Concerning Captain Tsubasa, the 2001 remake doesn't clear it. In fact, it makes things worse.
Going by the manga,
Captain Tsubasa + Shin Captain Tsubasa was arc 1.
Captain Tsubasa J was arc 1 and arc 2.
but Captain Tsubasa Road to 2002 was arc 1 and an incomplete arc 3.
Yes, they skipped the entire of arc 2 (World Youth) which was my favourite part of the manga. :-/
