Hello! I like to write, play videogames, watch anime, read manga and loads of other things. Feel free to leave a message if you want to discuss anything with me.
And check out
my blog for more detailed thoughts on anime series as I complete them, as well as thoughts on videogames and other topics relevant to 'the culture.'
-----
A few notes about my ratings:
1: The worst on the list. Only one title holds this rating at any given time.
2: A very bad title that I would not recommend to anyone.
3: A series that may be bad, but still appeal to very specific tastes.
4-6: The 'average' lump. Titles are measured against each other and placed into an appropriate rating bracket.
7: A solid series. I personally find all of these series quite memorable and worth watching.
8: A good series that I also believe has appeal beyond the scope of my own interests. I would recommend these to anyone, including non-anime fans. Note that this does not mean that I find them necessarily 'better' than entries that are rated 7, I simply believe that they can appeal to a greater audience.
9: An extremely good series with either widespread appeal
or strong enough execution to effectively consider 'near-perfect'. There may be a few small flaws, but not enough to hinder the overall experience in the slightest.
10: Reserved for what I believe is the single best overall title on the list.

Despite all that, : After Story is still in my top two, because when it is good, it's excellent.
Have you ever watched an anime that you thought might have been specifically designed to make you dislike it? That's what Monster felt like for me. It's a really self-serious show that just can't live up to its aspirations. If it had been more self-aware or more self-deprecating, I could have appreciated it for what it is. But it asked me to take it seriously, so I did, and I found it incredibly lacking.
It has Nazi midgets.
If you're looking for rich fields to hoe for your blog, Monster has them.
However, I suppose if you're trying to be professional in your estimations (and you seem to want to be ... kudos on your blog, by the way; I like your style), then you can't really mark that way...
This was a fun chat. For me, anyway. I think I'll recommend your blog to a few friends.
(To mark Infinite Stratos just 1 lower than Bebop, however... I'm dismayed. The characters, the plot, the world: all flat. Also cliche. And contrived. You gave it a 5?)
I think you're the only person I've met on here who consistently marks anime lower than I do. That's an achievement, however dubious.
Hello there One Divine, the registrations and entries have been delivered for both the Banner Competition #2 and our very first Art Competition, so whether you participated or not, please visit here for the Art competition voting and here for the Banner Competition voting!
