Yeah, the bitter truth.
But if you really liked Oyasumi Punpun then I'll highly recommend you to give Aku No Hana a try. It's really a lot similar to Op and gives off even more gritty and creepy vibes from it.

Personally I felt emotionally disconnected from Oyasumi Punpun within the last couple of arcs which ruined my entire opinion about it.
During the last couple of arcs through the series, it was evident that the author was trying to drag the series on as he tried to branch out the story into short and shallow arcs about the side-characters to slow down the pacing. That was a bad move as the drama during those side-stories felt forced and cringy(his uncle's weird back-story).

The story didn't do a good job in fleshing out the female characters and the entire cult of "Good Vibration" was introduced to invoke some dumb drama and looked out of place.

Last but not the least a major reason for my bad ratings on OP is because of my own high-expectations from it because of it's high ratings on MAL and other sites and I was completely let down from it.
