Outside of pokemon and digimon I watched as a kid, I've been into anime since 2013, but have eased off my intense obsession with it since 2016. it all began with Fullmetal Alchemist (the original).
I started out watching dubs, but have now watched quite a few subs. I still watch some dubs. There are some anime which I only watch the dub (like ouran high school host club), some in which I only watch the sub (like black butler), and some where I watched both and liked aspects of both (like durarara).
Lately, most of the anime I've been watching hasn't even been dubbed yet. I'm not landing on any one side of the subs/dubs debate. i say each anime is its own animal, and should be judged separately.

I like many different varieties of anime, as you might see from my watched list. I like good comedy and shoujo. I like good action and adventure as long as there's complex characters and a decent plot. I'm not opposed to dark stuff, or Shingeki no Kyojin wouldn't be in my top list, but overall I do tend to favor the lighter side.
Good characters are everything to me, which is why sports anime are so appealing. I wouldn't have finished Yowamushi Pedal if it weren't for such wonderful characters because there were some other over the top aspects that would've turned me off otherwise. But I already loved the characters too much to let go.
There's plenty of people I read how they don't understand the appeal of slice of life anime because "they're all the same" but since I'm here for characters, many times that's the best place to find ones to fall in love with. Plus with tons of different character combinations it's never the same: different chemistry. I on the other hand don't understand the appeal of action/adventure that are all fight!fight! plot! etc. with no well rounded characters.
my manga list is only so long because i'm a yaoi enthusiast, and there are a LOT of one shots out there. only about 12 on that list fall in shoujo/shounen, and I only started them because of watching their respective anime first.

Just like 99.9% of the people who watched SAO said that, pretty generic to be honest, been hearing the same for years now :p
Nice review btw ;)
