The reworked "Macarena (Bayside Boys remix)" spent 14 weeks at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart,[5] one of the longest runs atop the Hot 100 chart in history. The single spent its final week at No. 1 on its 46th week on the chart, recorded as the latest No. 1 single in Hot 100 history
Regarding Macarena, that's an exception. But other then that and Gangnam Style. I never seen any other famous non-English songs making the top Billboard 100 or 200 charts.
About K-pop, even before Gangnam Style, K-pop was gaining popularity amongst in the US mainstream (I have articles that backed this up), but Gangnam Style propel K-pop to the mainstream. But yet there's a lot of non-PSY act that are getting a lot of US fanbases. My point is that, K-pop regardless if it's not promoted like any other music was able to get popular in the US before and after PSY's Gangnam Style.
I'll give you another example, I've mention Korean dramas. K-dramas like anime they're shown online and yet they become more popular and sometime reach mainstream audiences more then anime are getting in the US:
Just for the record, majority of the audiences that watch K-dramas in USA are non-Asian. So how could K-dramas despite being shown online like anime are able to get more international fans then anime are getting?

Although it's an anime movie I would tell you to try out Perfect Blue
Not to go off topic but I'm going to use K-pop as an example.
