Hi, would you like to join us?^^
Btw, what's your current OOR earworm? Mine would be The Beginning when Taka says during the last chorus "Fureri ukanda SENKOUGANKOU wa kangakiteki SHOUDOU". The way he pronounces senkougankou and shoudou is so eargasmic! xDD
Now thinking about it, it must pretty awkward for Taka to perform The Beginning live. Since he's the only vocalist in the band, he can't sing the main melody and do the backup singing near the end of the song like in the studio version, which will make it seems repetitive and less climatic than the original song >.<
My favourite OOR album would be Niche Syndrome since i think it has more consistent and less experimental music (unlike Jinsei x Boku). It's so sad that Alex couldn't take part in the making of this album T_T
I like OOR because they have a very versatile style, use original combinations of many musical genres and because i can easily relate to their music, be it in the musicality or the lyrics. I like to compare them as the Ichigo Kurosaki of jrock : a hybrid between jrock and western rock. Their music contains the typical fast, catchy jrock tempo and progression while perfectly integrating the raw energy and emotions of western rock. Taka's voice is also very beautiful and unique. It's almost like he has 2 voices: a raspy rockish vocal (his current role) and a clean pop vocal (reminder of his past as a pop singer), which makes him the Ichigo among the vocalists xDD I also like to compare him as a rogue ninja like Itachi, who exiled from the typical happy-go-lucky pop music industry (NEWS) to the more mature and manly rock scene (OOR).
So yeah, you could say i'm not only attracted to OOR because they make good music but also because they remind me of some of my favourite anime characters ^^
What attract you to OOR's music the most?
I also listen to the bands you mentioned (too bad Stereopony disbanded T_T). My favourite song from the Gazette is The invisible wall and from Stereopony is their Gundam 00 opening!
My favs by album:
Zeitakubyou - Naihi Shinsho (classic debut song!), Et cetera (dramatic and great intensity), Yume Yume (cool rhythmic guitar riffs), Yokubou Ni Michita Seinendan
Beam of light - Hitsuzen maker, Koubou (the music sounds somewhat more optimistic than their previous work)
Kanjou Effect - Koi no aibou kokoro no cupido (sick guitar riffs again, mostly thanks to Alex), Reflexion (like that screamo part), 20 years old, Kaimu
Niche Syndrome (Alex left T.T) - Dreamer (so much power and motivational energy!), Jibun Rock, Nobody's Home
Zankyo Refenrence - Answer is Near (their best and catchiest instrumental solo imo), Re:make, Kimishidai Ressha (similar mood to Nobody's Home), Mr. Gendai Speaker (very swift and rhythmic drums)
Jinsei kakete boku wa - The Beginning (epic and inspiring song with Taka's passion at its peak!), Onion (fast-paced and catchy), All Mine (ultimate high note ballad), Juvenile (another awesome drums performance)
As for My First Story, i think they did pretty well for their debut album. The music is pretty well defined, but not as much as their brother band imo and i can't relate to their songs as much as I do with OOR's. The second album sounds somewhat a little too generic and the music momentum is less defined than in their first album. Nevertheless some of their songs are still very enjoyable. My favourites in My First Story are Institution, Second Limit, Still and Calling you and in The story is my life are The story is my life (lol), preservation and Where come from.
So yeah that sums up pretty much my musical interest for OOR and MFS
What's your favourite instrumental solo from OOR and MFS? Have heard about some less well known OOR songs like And i know or Nichijou Evolution?
