Bokurano is one of my favorite manga of all time but it would be wrong of me not to adequately warn you. Its not for the faint of heart. The first time I finished reading it I was left completely numb. I'd call it one of the most Nihilistic works I've ever read. It's a very painfully depressing and sad work. But I don't want to portray it as purely depressing because in many ways Bokuarno is a celebration of life and how special it is.
So here is what I recommend: watch the anime first and treat it as a demo. Then read the manga. The downside of the anime is that its a bit watered down compared to the intensity of the manga (especially after the midpoint) this was because the anime director hated how dark the manga was and wanted to give it a happy ending. There are actually a few plot points in the anime that are really good that are absent in the manga.
Interesting that you mention Steins;Gate since it is based off a Visual Novel game. I've got plans to re-watch it soon and play the VN to compare the two.
Thank you for the manga recommendations, I'll be sure to add them to my list before I forget. Interesting that you mentioned books because I may actually read one tonight. In this case a light novel. I've only read a few but I'm excited for this one. Its Bokurano: Alternative a light novel alternate telling of one of my favorite manga of all time Bokurano.
I went and listened to your video and gave it a like. Its great you have such a talent. My main talent is writing but I also wish I could draw so I could create my own manga.
I'm glad that you liked Irie, she's on my list of best anime women of all time actually. Though I don't keep that list here. I really loved her and Ilya. They're strikingly beautiful and Irie was so kind and tragic. I really enjoyed Ufotables adaptation of Fate Zero and UBW. I still need to see the Heaven's Feel Trilogy but I'm trying to wait until I can afford the Aniplex blu ray's.
Personally I'm more interested in literature and hard science but philosophy certain interests me even if it gives me a headache sometimes :P
I've certainly heard of Frank Zappa despite not having much knowledge of music. Still his approach is a solid one. Its a concept called a "litmus test" where you judge people based on how they respond to a question or series of questions. For example I have a list that I often use when chatting with a girl online/or in person before we decide if we're going to date or not.
Back to music. I tend to like rock from the 1970's, some 80's music, but not too much beyond the 90's. I'd say due to the amount of exposure I've had I tend to like various anime sound tracks and the artists that contribute to them the most. Which didn't help me fit in during HS. Back then everyone liked Soulja Boi or whatever.
I'm curious, where does your profile picture come from? I assume its from a manga about music given your interests?
You're correct. I often end up thinking that way at least. Money, Sex, Fame, Possessions. Society tells us to crave these things and that by obtaining them we will achieve happiness. Yet even with these things so many people remain empty. Like you said, its all so superficial.
Aku no Hana was actually the first Oshimi work I read and it remains one of my favorite manga to this day. Presently I'm trying to read his entire body of work but as before I keep running into people who give them bad reviews/miss the point which frustrates me.
Granted I don't always get the point. So I'm hoping I can count on you to maybe help me notice the things I missed considering your interest in philosophy. Did you study philosophy academically by any chance?
I am pleased to make your acquaintance and am sure we will get along well!
I see that you haven't been active since the end of last year. If you do return feel free to send me a reply. I'm trying to immerse myself in my anime and manga hobby to forget about the bad things going on in the world these days.
Season two was not as good. Conclusion was unsatisfactory and confusing.
