abby_babber's Anime Watch List
I'm a Slice-of-Life fanatic, so that's my main focus when watching anime. I am not opposed to watching other anime however.
My Rating Scale (Read Before Viewing List)
- 10: An absolute must-watch. I hold these shows in high regard. 10s are not "perfect" or "flawless" status, nor do I enjoy them to the same degree. They are shows that I can wholeheartedly enjoy without a greater flaw docking significant enjoyment, or ones I feel are important enough to anime watchers to deserve this rating. If I could rate granular ratings 9.1 - 10.0 I would.
- 9: A high recommendation, but a greater flaw holds it back from "must-watch" status. Reasons for this differ, but can include things such as pacing, greater plot development, characterization, atmosphere / story devices, etc. The severity of said flaw is not overbearing, and has not much greater impact of the overall show.
- 8: Recommended. Flaws of greater severity, or multiple smaller flaws can appear in shows with this rating, but they do not detract from the greater experience too harshly to still not be considered a good show. Tropes and more heavily played out themes, parts with less-than-ideal characters / pacing, small holes in the overarching plot, and various other "small to medium" offenses are such examples.
- 7: Middle of the road. C Tier. Mid. Average. This is still a passing grade, but I wouldn't personally recommend shows of this rating unless you're either a diehard fan of a particular style / genre / theme, or have a higher tolerance for the flaws mentioned above. You may end up loving or hating shows of this rating and it greatly depends on the type of anime fan you are.
- 1-6: Actively disliked. I'd not recommend you watch any shows ranked this low. Rating depends on if it has any redeeming qualities or the severity at which flaws may appear. Larger scale grievances such as less-than-ideal / immersion-breaking / otherwise bad voice acting, story-telling, themes, characterizations, pacing, animation, etc. may plague these shows. They detract heavily from the watching experience.
