Anw, feel free to talk with me abt anime (either you want to discuss abt it or ask for recs)
Enjoy your time watching anime
- Ladd Russo (Baccano!)
- Meruem (HxH)
- Petelgeuse (Re:Zero)
- Isabella (Yakusoku no Neverland)
- Kazuho Yoshii (Texhnolyze)
I have plenty of characters that I like but are not in my favourites. All the villains mentioned above for example.
I very much enjoy post-apocalyptic settings and it's sad that there aren't much coming out nowadays from what I've seen/remember. The Promised Neverland is one of the most recent examples I know of. I don't know if AoT counts but yeah that's a good series as well.
I haven't seen a lot of vampire themed shows though. Hellsing Ultimate is one I remember on the tip of my tongue. Shiki as well. The Castlevania series probably can't be classified as anime but it's inspired by it.
I don't have a favourite dere type. It's more about what they do with them that counts. Like why they act like just that dere type. If that's their only character trait then I'm not interested in them.
I pray for a continuation of Mob Psycho 100. It's my favourite show after all and there enough chapters to make a S3. I also want Hajime no Ippo to get a S4, but I highly doubt it will. Tetsuwan Birdy: Decode left on a cliffhanger which was pretty tragic cause the second season was great. Dorohedoro definently needs a another season too. There are more but I will digress.
My favourite year of anime is probably last year actually. Three of my ten favourite shows aired then and a lot of other good shows as well. There were of course a lot of subpar shows that aired then like you said but that's a given when the amount of shows increases. I'm not sure if the shounen genre has degraded though. For me the problem is that I've just seen too many and is pretty fed up with it. But that's not to say I don't still enjoy it. I completed Kimetsu no Yaiba in under three days which is rare for me to do. I had a lot of problems with the show but I still enjoyed it a lot. Have you seen it and if so, what are your thoughts on it?
This year is a bad year for anime though. Pretty much only the sequels are worth watching and some of the shows from Winter. Spring and Summer was bad but there are some promising shows this season I think.
Yeah rom-coms usually ends up being very average. The visuals especially are often bad and comedy in anime rarely works for me. Tonikaku Kawaii of this season is a prime example of that. I spit on shows like that and move on.
I love emotional shows if done right. But many of them get overdramatic and stupid and in those cases, I'm not a fan. Like I said earlier comedy in anime rarely makes me laugh and if they do it's usually only about one time. I'm therefore not very interested in comedy shows so I turn to more dramatic and emotional shows instead. But the best is when a show makes me both laugh and get emotional. I think I've never actually cried to an anime before. I'm just very emotionally stable I guess.
I like when mystery is implemented in shows where that's no the main focus. But I haven't seen a lot of detective shows. Might check some out one day.
That was a handful to write but I hope I answered your questions!
I don't really feel inspired by anime most of the time. To be fair I have a hard time getting inspired or motivated by anything and that has done me nothing good. I was a bit inspired by Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru (Run with the Wind) to start jogging more often. Mob Psycho 100 also made me want to improve myself more, so that's at least something.
You can find my most liked characters in my favourites. Lelouch, Okabe Rintarou, Spike Spiegel etc.
I've seen about 40 episodes of Black Clover and it's very average to be honest. Have heard that it gets better after awhile and I sincerely hope so. Will continue watching it sometime but I don't know if I will finish it.
If you like the Psychological genre then I can recommend checking out the works of Satoshi Kon. There's pretty much nothing in anime that comes close to his style of directing. He has passed away now but his work still holds up greatly. My personal favourites of his are Perfect Blue and Mousou Dairinin (Paranoia Agent).
I saw Kiseijuu pretty recently actually and I thought it was good. Lost me a bit in the second half but was pretty entertaining throughout.
I think my favourite seiyuu right now is Mamoru Miyano. It's not a very unique choise I know, but at his best he can really steal the show.
Are there any show's from this season that you're watching and if so do you like it/them?
I watched a few episodes of Dr Stone a few months back but I wasn't that impressed by it. Maybe I should give it another chance.
I have not watched the anime for Promised Neverland but I have read pretty far into the manga. Will finish that first and then maybe watch the show. I really like what I've read so far. Have you watched/read it? I don't want to spoil anything if you haven't. It's been pretty exciting to read in any case. Has kept me on the edge of my chair multiple times and almost made me want to go vegan. You should definently give it a go sometime if you haven't.
I watched some episodes of SAO back when I was about 13-14 years old. Remember liking it but never finished it because I heard so many bad things about it. If I watched it today then I'd probably dislike it. But I don't want to waste my time finding that out.
Some Sci-fi recommendations:
- Steins;Gate
- Cowboy Bebop
- Space Dandy
- Tetsuwan Birdy: Decode
- Flip Flappers
- Texhnolyze (definently not a show for everyone but you won't find many like it)
Sci-fi movies:
- Summer Wars
- Ghost in the Shell
- Metropolis
- Akira
- Eve no Jikan
- Sakasama no Patema
By the way. Have you seen Crunchyroll's trailer for the upcoming anime Ex-Arm? It looks absolutely horrendous.
I've seen the first season of Higurashi yes. Not a fan out of it. Anime rarely succeds at horror in my opinion, but the first four episodes were pretty good. Then it went downhill from there.
watching some old anime.
Where did you find my account? Just curious
