Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu comes to mind. Also Chika Umino's other work Hachimitsu to Clover is supposedly on the same level? I'm not 100% sure about that one though because I haven't got around to watching/reading it yet.

Yeah absolutely, I found the emotional beats in the second season to hit a lot harder, as the show decided to focus on more of the supporting cast’s internal struggles and issues. And the visuals + color palette becomes increasingly vibrant and expressive as Rei grows as a person juxtaposed to the (at times) dreary/lifeless colors in the first season. It avoids being style over substance because the show is bolstered by a human and emotionally resonant narrative. I still don’t have a firm grasp on Shogi however, but it doesn’t detract from my overall experience lol… mainly because of how they are all presented and utilized to explore these different people.

Yeah I feel the same way about the anime. I went to the manga a couple months after the I finished up the second season, there's been no news about more material being animated so I had to read in order the fill that void :/

Would be nice if more anime took that approach regarding chapter titles, but most adaptations don't always strictly follow the source material so it would be quite rare to see. The only other instance I've seen this in is 'Arakawa Under the Bridge' which is another show by studio Shaft. Didn't pique my interest to read it though.

3-Gatsu no Lion’s manga is superb. Although it’s always a different experience when you switch from anime to manga, the art is basically on par with the show.
Also yeah I noticed that they use chapter titles in the anime, made it far more easier to find out where to start when I began reading which is super helpful. Hope you continue to enjoy it though!
