I too considered it was a drag at first, but since i had time to waste, i stuck to it, and... I'm really glad I did.
IMO, it's one of the best shounen animes I've watched.
If u split gintama's arcs into serious and comedy arcs, the first serious arc should start very soon for you and it gets much better from there.
Gintama S3 is my fav season of gintama.
If u r short on time or dont wanna waste time on non-serious episodes, then I think u'll find this guide very helpful
Well, I just hope u dont drop it, as eventually u r sure to start loving it.
