Each score is determined by a weighting of the following four categories. Sub-categories are listed in descending order of importance, though individual cases may vary.

=> Story [27] - Presentation, Themes, Pacing, Detail/Complexity
=> Characters [30] - Characterization/Development, Interaction, Intimacy
=> Enjoyment [12] - Emotional impact, Anticipation/Suspense
=> Significance [33] - Personal value, Personal impression (+/-), Distinctiveness, Memorability
=> Total Score - Out of 102

Disclaimer: The above sub-categories are not mutually exclusive from each other, and sometimes the effect of one can impact my reception for all the rest. In the end, the ratings are highly subjective, and highly dependent on my particular viewing experience for that instance. The above is but a loose guide.
* Also note that the Enjoyment score is recorded right after the watch, and never changed thereafter. If there are re-watches, the highest Enjoyment score is kept.
** Intimacy refers to the closing of emotional distance between the characters and the viewer, and the story's ability to convey a deep understanding and connection with the characters. This ultimately differentiates the character works that matter to me vs. those that don't, at the top level.

10 - Masterpiece : Perennial classics and masters of scope and feel which will resonate for years to come
9 - Extraordinary : The cream-of-the-crop of their medium, with either masterful presentation, or heartfelt fervor in their message
8 - Excellent : Typically Anime-of-the-Year tier works which are all-around fulfilling, successfully ambitious, and ambitiously successful
7 - Good : Typically Anime-of-the-Season tier works with a drive in passion and significance
6 - Decent : Solid works which make up the staple of my enjoyment
5 - Passable : Solid works limited in scope, overextended ambitious works, works with distinctive flair but lacking areas, etc.
4 - Mediocre : They may have something to say, but they sure stumble a lot along the way
3 - Bad : What started out as a good concept got dragged into a sea of mediocrity
2 - Terrible : What I find worthless, but other sane members of society may not
1 - Zero For Effort : Utterly hopeless works which are difficult in finding a single sane reason to respect in any manner whatsoever
