Yea Valkyrie Drive is very hilarious. I think they kind of did that on purpose. I stopped Osomatsu after a few ep, not really my type of gag (the art style is not my type I should say). Shomin Sample is pretty hilarious as well and Seraph is unintentionally hilarious due to the poor execution.
If you like measure theory, I suggest Probability and Measure by Billingsley (don't get the anniversary edition, it is badly formatted). Number theory for me is mainly cryptography stuff that is quite boring for me though there are some seemingly easy but insanely difficulty conjectures (collatz conjecture is beautiful). If you like Topology/Diff Geometry, try John Lee's Topological Manifold, Differential Manifold books.
Gochiusa is awesome, you should also check out yuruyuri, this season is hilarious. (Rakudai has fantastic fight and execution :)
I see that you like Number theory and analysis, they are pretty different though. If you like analysis, you will probably like Probability and measure theory (almost indistinguishable! ). I don't like complex analysis that much haha. I used to study mainly differential geometry, topology and probability/measure/analysis stuff. All those turned out to be useful in Machine learning and Computer graphics. Automata theory is very handy for practical programming.
I will definitely check out the シュヴァルツェスマーケン anime. When I played Muv luv, I didn't notice all the right wingness in it, but now I do XD. Still the execution is pretty good. As for Utaware, at least, we will get another sequel which is great. I don't mind if it is a 24 episodes commercial for Utaware 3 : ). It is good to see a lot of new eroge coming out since the eroge scene is pretty stale without things like SakuUta, Subahibi , white album for a long time.
What a coincident, my major was also mathematics (Proof after proof 24/7, at least I learned measure theory and integration theory before I graduated.). But now I have transitioned to computer science after I graduated. Doing software for now, but will definitely go get a Ph.D in Machine learning. CS and Math are so intertwined that everything I learned is utilized in CS.
I thought シュヴァルツェスマーケン was an anime. Didn't know it has a game. Yea I am watching Utaware 2, can't wait to see how sick the cliffhanger is. Is it like the Rokka no Yuusha type of troll cliffhanger ?
SakuUta is Clannad level of length ( around 60 hours auto mode ). I tried some eroges other than SakuUta , couldn't get into them (ソーサリージョーカーズ, フェアリーテイル・レクイエム), I swear the whole eroge industry is on decline. (SakuUta literally opened a hole in my chest after I finished it, and now I am dying for sequel which is in production actually)
btw what field are you studying? I will have to go back for a Ph.D after some years also.
Some reviews mentioned that people who played it for Kisaki and turned into Kanata fans later on got the most enjoyment out of the game which is exactly what I went through. Lol.
The way they set up the hints along the way and recover every single one of them near the end is pretty impressive. I kind of feel that Kisaki should have tried everything out including destroying the book since she decided to die anyway. That part felt kind of forced since Kisaki was that smart.
My fav moments are Kanata's confession on Saphire, the part Kanata was beat by the MC, the ending of Kisaki Route, and the ざまをみろ part by Kisaki.
I will do 駄作 soon. I like 純愛 stuff ( best being Subahibi lol ) .
駄作 is on my list after looking at the official site. 紙魔法 is super awesome in the way how the story unfolds which you will see later on. Kisaki and Kanata's last name. Moon and Sun basically their personalities. Both my waifu wahahahaha.
Hey, I recently finished the game 紙の上の魔法使い(I finished it in two days played it 15 hours a day, it is that addictive). It's the BEST game I have played in such a long time. The story is awesome with lots of 伏線 and they are all recovered. And the characters are so charming (Two more waifus and they are topping my list). かなたちゃんマジ天使♥
Yeah, it's pretty much impossible to polarize in WA2, their relationship is very tangled up, but with a neat way that I doubt anyone but Maruto can pull it off. Even though I enjoy Haruki and Kazusa's dynamics more than any couple and Kazusa gives me diabetes, mostly I end up talking about Setsuna more, she's fascinating. I also agree about they're not the most likeable persons, but I think that's what makes WA2 better than any romance title. With faulty characters drama feels more real (compared to stuff like Key games) and it's easier to sympathize with them. If I had to rank though, Io is probably the most horrible character, I hate it when she shoves her opinions other people's throats and his relationship with Takeya. And Mari is probably nicest one, before she gets her share of Haruki.
That's one of the painful scenes in Coda, (even though it's hard to pick lol) other easy examples would be Haruki's confrontation with Ogiso family in true route and this scene in the classroom. Especially the second one. That sentence is short yet so powerful, manages to expose Kazusa's regret, frustration, anger and sadness at the same time. Truly magical.
Yeah, next year looks really good, even though I haven't played Senshinkan I'm excited most for Bansenjin. There is also ぼくの一人戦争 and 紙の上の魔法使い which I read trials and enjoyed (latter is even out I think) and Jackson/Takahiro game and many more. Better work on that backlog. Games I want to read most is Oretsuba, Muramasa and Cross Channel, but I rather read relatively easier stuff after Dies' 3.5mb worth of dense text for a while. Currently reading Shiei no Sona-nyl by Sakurai Hikaru. Her writing is very characteristic and stylish and I'm totally in love with it. Also her worldbuilding is amazing (Couple of her games even has dictionary for the terms) and all of her games have similar atmosphere. I definitely recommend checking out Steampunk (What a beautiful) series. Is this the Himawari you're talking about? I heard it's one of the best doujin games, was thinking of playing soon since it seems easy and not too long.
