Why I like anime:

Anime is my favorite artistic entertainment medium because it allows the liberty and creativity to express things in ways that most other mediums can't or won't. Aside from the unstoppable onslaught of slop, riddled with the cliches and tropes we are all tired and embarrassed to see, anime still allows a way for people outside the norm to express their artistic vision with the most purity to a mainstream audience.

Even if only a few a year, you still can find that one special work that no other industry would allow to exist. Of course, the same could be said about manga and books in general, but the accessibility and intensity that an animated, auditory experience provides is able to reach my feelings much easier. The animations, designs, music, voices, writing, directing, etc., are allowed to be unapologetically raw and loud, or subtle and timid, vulgar or elegant, safe or experimental, or whatever it wants to be.


My thoughts and scores:

I have written brief notes on my lists with my thoughts on a lot of the shows I've watched, feel free to check it out if you're interested.

Regarding my scoring criteria, I mostly try to base my scores on the word MAL uses to describe them, because numbers feel a bit too vague for me as a descriptor. Some scores are more logical than others, some may be entirely emotion based.

I like to score, list and organize things as a hobby, but I don't really take this too seriously, so please don't take my scoring too seriously as well. I also change/update my opinion/perception on things a lot, so all scores and notes are susceptible to change. Most will likely be outdated, please take that into consideration.

I try my best to not be affected by nostalgia. I tried re-watching most stuff I watched as a kid to be able to judge them more fairly, but some I dislike so much that I can't be bothered to re-watch. Sorry.


Favorites:

The "Favorite Characters" section is about characters I find either highly enjoyable or characters I deeply sympathize with. They don't necessarily need to be particularly well written, though it's definitely a plus. It doesn't include waifus or aesthetic-based favorites, but their appearance can also be a factor. List is in no particular order and subject to change frequently.
