I'm a student and my favorite things would have to be Anime, Gaming, Movies, and most of all, Music!
I tend to favor psychological and drama anime. I grew up watching Pokémon, DBZ and Yu-Gi-Oh! The first and latter because I got hooked played the card games and video games respectively as a young'un (Pokémon still has some of the best games). One day my parents brought home Sprited Away for us all to watch, which was incredible, it changed my perception on everything, having never experienced any form of art from eastern philosophy/culture. The movie was rich with symbolism and it's characters felt so real. it was then I started to really appreciate anime(and movies, for that matter). After years of growing through the phases I finally reconnected with anime around 2011, it was then I started watching all the modern shows that we all love today!
So I went to Japan in summer of 2014 and visited Tokyo and Kyoto. Obviously I went to Akihabara :p. I got a handout from the cute cosplay girls that parade the street, before heading to an arcade and tons of shops. I also went to Asakusa, Tokyo Tower; Took a boat ride; Went up Tokyo Sky Tree; Went to a couple Karaoke <3, Tried a bunch of streetfood; Saw a shit ton of temples in Kyoto; Went to a kabuki; Prayed at a shrine. All in all, it was an amazing experience and a great trip.
After this time my Anime watching started to decline. I only watched a few shows during 2014-15 like Parasite(which was great), Owari no Seraph, and Tokyo Ghoul. I started college in 2015 and by the end of the year, I stopped watching anime completely..
Fast Forward to 2017, I'm on an airplane to Montreal to see Bob Dylan and I see Your Name. (Kimi No Na Wa) as a selection! That movie blew me away, and is one of, if not my favorite Anime movie of all time. After that, I still didn't get into any other anime for a while.
A year later, I'm traveling again, this time for a summer family trip/cruise to SE Asia and HK. I see FUCKING Maquia: Flower blooms and I'm like OMG MISS ANIME! (It wasn't even that good tbh, but it reminded me of certain reasons why Anime was always so special to me) So imma end it here. I only added this edit because i hated looked at this other shit i had poster here.... whelp it's fucking 4am and I got class at 8 so.. um.... ☮!
I wish MAL had a more in-depth rating system that used decimals; many times do I find myself wanting to rate a show an 8.5, 7.2 etc... I try my best to match a rating to how I felt about a show in the end. Because of this, numerous shows that share the same rating are not in fact equal in my opinion but there isn't a way around it unless I seemingly under-rate rate shows.
I took a long hiatus on watching Anime from 2014-Fall 2018 (I recently got back into the fold)
I have many favorite video games, as they were instrumental in my upbringing. Some of my revered: Metal Gear Solid, Chrono Trigger, FF6 - 10, Xenogears, Star Wars: KOTOR, Halo 2-3, Zelda:WW, Persona 3,4,5, CoD4-MW2, Mass Effect 2, RDR, Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire, and Dark Souls.
My favorite bands are The Doors, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, The Byrds, Genesis, The Grateful Dead, Simon and Garfunkel, Nirvana, Sonic Youth, and Radiohead
Your journey with anime, from childhood favorites to rekindling the passion through impactful movies like "Your Name" and "Maquia: Flower Blooms," is quite engaging, reminiscent of the diverse conversations one might encounter on omegle. The detailed account of their trip to Japan and the subsequent decline and resurgence of interest in anime adds a personal touch. The mention of favorite video games and bands further illustrates the author's diverse interests and experiences. Overall, it's a compelling narrative of how various forms of entertainment have shaped the author's life.
I see you are watching Attack on Titan! The story is only going to get better with Season 3 Part 2 and if you enjoy that as well I would recommend checking out the manga if you don't want to wait for Season 4!
