Hello, you've made it to my profile. No clue as to how you got here, since I'm not one to write reviews, but hey! You're here.
I'm an ex-anime watcher turned manga addict who grew up watching Studio Ghibli, and later came to acknowledge that yes, I am a weeb.
I used to be heavily(ish?) into anime, but after watching all of Naruto in a month with fillers, I destroyed what was left of my patience. Nowadays it's difficult for me to watch a full season. I've switched over to manga, where, for the past couple of years; anything and everything goes. One-shots, doujins, Twitter comics, or serialized series, I'll read it all.
With COVID-19, I realized that I'd finally have time to log all my series, and made a MAL account. With that in mind, don't trust my manga count as MAL doesn't list many of the series that are out there. Whatever my list says, it's probably much more.
I'm a completionist/stubborn, so expect me to finish any series on my list. If a manga series is on hold/dropped, I either lost interest or don't have access to the remaining chapters. Most anime that's on hold/dropped suffers from me not being patient enough to finish an episode.
Favorite Genres?
Most stuff goes. If it's well written or has good art, I'll likely enjoy it. I'm always down for romance regardless of genre, Shounen is good for dumb fun and great fights, comedy is generally accepted, Ecchi is widely acknowledged, and Doujins are likely to have the launch codes saved.
Least Favorite Genres?
Yaoi, Yuri. That's pretty much it. I'll read this genre on recommendation, but I won't go out of my way to find new titles. Admittedly, all genres have their exceptions, but I tend to stray away from these in particular. Also, the 4-Koma format tends to rub me the wrong way.
Rating scale:
10. Masterpiece, a favorite, a must-read; if you haven't read/watched it, I will find you and change that.
9. Top-notch. These are all around great series. Maybe it'll have a flaw or two, but it'll be overshadowed by the rest of it.
8. Very Good. Now we're getting somewhere. It has at least one strong element; while it definitely isn't perfect, it's likely to satisfy an itch.
7. Pretty good. Worth more praise than normal, had a fair amount of good moments. Not necessarily going to re-read or re-watch.
6. Good. Nothing too much to say other than good, I was content reading it. Better than average, had its moments
5. Average. (pretty much the only rating that corresponds with MAL). You can read it if you want. I won't tell you no.
4. Bad. wasn't fun to watch, but I'm a good sport, and I finished it, though it might've been unenjoyable
3. Really bad. Probably had to force myself to watch/read it, it might be fine, but I might have found something about it to be unbearable.
2. Trash. I probably didn't finish it. If I finished it it'd be because I'd already put energy into it, but something was incredibly wrong with it, probably a drop in quality or a terrible ending.
1. Garbage. Probably read a chapter or watched an episode and decided I was done. Unless they were scarring, they probably won't make it up here since there's a high chance I forgot about it.
I'm stingy and value consistency, but take these ratings with a grain of salt. My scores, especially the worse ones, are entirely subjective. Many are decent series that had horrid endings, and thus warrant a much better score. However, if it has a bad score and I dropped/put it on hold, something's definitely wrong. Many of my on-hold/dropped series aren't necessarily bad, I'm just unlikely to pick them back up.
Honorable Mentions for Manga Favorites:
1. Do Chokyuu Kareshi x Kanojo
2. Girigiri Saegiru Katagiri-san
3. 5-Toubun no Hanayome

I like to put anime I think are under appreciated on my profile favorites, so that’s why I have Evangelion 4.0 in the #1 spot. Because of the 7/8/9 year gap between 3.0 and 4.0, I feel like the movie lost a lot of watchers.
4.0 wasn’t exactly one of my favorite anime movies of all time, but it was so worth the wait. To those very familiar with the franchise, it the movie was super rewarding to watch. No spoilers, but I’m sure most think of 4.0 as the “true ending” of Evangelion. 4.0 surely has its flaws, but it was a very nice conclusion to the series in its entirety. Thinking of watching the Rebuild series anytime soon?
I definitely recommend the AoT OVAs. They are a great addition to the series, unless you don’t really like the series in general.
Bleach was pretty hard to get through tbh. Out of all the arcs, only a few were really worth watching, filler or canon. I wouldn't say it's worth going through all 366 episodes just so you could be ready for the Final Arc. That said, I'm looking forward to the Final Arc now because I've made it this far--might as well go all the way.
I hope you're enjoying your rewatch of NGE. I think FMA and FMAB might be a good way to get back into anime again. I personally believe that they are both a little overhyped, but that doesn't mean that they're not top tier.
Btw, I was wondering what/who you set your profile picture as? I like the aesthetic.
It's been almost 9 years since the third Rebuild movie was released, so 3.0+1.0 better be good lmao. I expect great things from it. I haven't seen the trailer for 3.0+1.0 yet though because I probably don't remember enough of the first 3 movies to understand it fully. I think I'll rewatch all the movies soon.
Are you planning on watching the Rebuild movies?
