I rate shows mostly based on personal enjoyment and a bit on art/animation. I don't look too deep into writing or meaning behind things, also I don't rate based on writing, because that could be an issue with the souce material and not the anime. I'm just trying to have a good time. I try to keep good shows at a 7, but more often then not they end up being 8 or 9. If a show has a low score, but I finished it, then I most likely tried to rate it "objectively". If I drop a show, it's because I found it boring, but I may still give it a high score because I acknowlege things like good art and animation (or other aspects).
