Well... I don't know what to say. I have really complicated feelings towards Askeladd that is hard to explain. The only thing I can say for sure is, the final episode was more than enough reason for me to add him to my favourites

You're right! Shounen is one of my favorite genres. If you ask me about Bleach I would say although it was a bit boring in the beginning, it gets better through time. Many people drop it after watching a few episodes . So you have to be patient and watch till the end. It is really exciting (if you like shounen anime) and has a few good unexpected twists down the line. I won't say it's perfect or completely flawless. It has so many haters but personally I think it is amazing and should be rated higher. It is absolutely worth watching ʘ‿ʘ
