Cerebus syndrome huh? Yeah, happens to most lighthearted series at some point, oh well, I don't even know what that series is, but if you like it good. Enjoy the things you like and let others enjoy the things they like too, thats my motto... see thats why I don't particularly agree with rori's hands on approach to the opinions and reviews of others, I can understand discussing your likes and don'ts, but trying to convert others to your "cause"? Demanding rationality from the likes of others? Whats the point?
Do note I don't agree with his tone, but don't take him wrong, its not like he means any harm.
And if you want to reply to him do so in his profile btw.
Roriconfan can’t reply from his account so I do it in his request. This is what he said about your review:
“an anime with great story”
There isn’t much of a story in that show. The idea is nice but that is all, there is very little going on.
“space opera akin to Space Battleship Yamato”
There is nothing remotely similar to Yamato. Unless you see epic battles with aliens and the salvation of the Earth somewhere I don’t?
“It keeps you glued to the screen and yearns for more. MSP is one of those gem of an anime that manages to keep an interesting story while maintaining a good enough pace that keeps you from boring yourself out.”
It never did for me or most others, exactly because there is nothing going on in it. Also, if you watch a few more episodes, you will get to the point why most people gave up on this show. There aren’t any pirates at all.
“The characters themselves are pretty interesting”
They are generic and remain as such.
“What's in it : Spaceships, Techy Stuff, and Pirates!”
All of them used very light to the point they don’t mean anything.
“What's to like : Good story and pacing”
There isn’t much of a story and the pacing is terribly slow.
“Mood needed to watch : Need for something with a story and no fan service”
Again, there is no story and all the girls have miniskirts and skin-tight suits.
“an unexpectedly well made space opera for those who love to watch an anime with a great story, characters, and a steady pace.”
Space operas are nothing like this show. Mouretsu pirates is moe slice of life with a very light sci-fi backdrop. The story is barely there.
