Psycho-Pass is a series I've planned to watch since it aired and I've even downloaded it and started to watch the first episode, but unknown forces kept me from moving onward with it and I haven't gotten back around to it. Based on my initial impressions it seems to be a military/police action type of show similar maybe to the Ghost in The Shell: Stand Alone Complex series that I also became side tracked from and still need to complete. They're both intriguing to me but like many other titles I've just not been in the mood or for arbitrary reasons I haven't gotten around to them.
Madoka Magica is yet another series I've planned to watch, started watching, and become side tracked from for no justifiable reason. I enjoyed what I saw of it though and Shaft's animation is always nicer than I could expect.
As far as Fate/Zero I caught some of the English dub as it premiered on Neon Alley, but it seemed to be a bit heavy on lore and dialogue and the fantasy world which I wasn't all that impressed by. However, I didn't see enough of it to really judge properly so now that you've brought it up I'll certainly give it another chance.
Finally I'll say thanks for warning me about Mirai Nikki. I have a friend that was into it while it was airing so after taking a look at the synopsis and realizing it was a survival game I remembered that I enjoyed Deadman Wonderland and decided I might check it out. You've convinced me not to waste my time on it so I probably won't end up watching it if I don't get any urge to.
Also, after going to remove Mirai Nikki from my PTW I noticed I was planning to watch Gunbuster which reminded me of something relative to NGE. I remember I had wanted to watch it before watching the NGE series because I believe a good amount of influence was derived from Gunbuster when creating it. After all they were both directed by Hideaki Anno and sport many of the same themes as well.

Really? That surprises me a bit because though the ending was left somewhat open to interpretation to the viewer I very much liked that aspect and found Ergo Proxy to be the most satisfying anime I've seen to this date. Lain like the ending of Ergo Proxy could also be perceived in more ways than one, and although I was able to see flaws in Lain it holds a meaning dear to myself and gave me a feeling afterwards that's been unrivaled by another series so far. Regardless I realize the series we're talking about are quite subjective and not necessarily made for the general audience. Death Note admittedly had its flaws but I enjoyed it at the time I watched it. At the time I'd only seen a handful if not even that of psychological series so Death Note helped turn me onto it to an extent.
I haven't completed Code Geass but plan to get around to checking it out at some point or another. I don't 'dislike' it or anything but I've just drawn predetermined notions about it that have deterred me from watching it right away. I think if you liked it and initially liked Death Note maybe you'll enjoy Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor a lot. I really loved watching the mind games and antics that ensue while Kaiji works painstakingly to gamble his way out of debt. I enjoyed the series so much personally that I moved on to Against All Rules almost immediately after completing it and the character became a favorite of mine.
After hearing that I haven't completed NGE or Code Geass it may seem that I draw unfair perceptions of them ahead of time, and maybe to an extent that is the case. However, I'm not the type of person to judge something before completing it so I will get around to seeing them. It's only what i know of the series or the bits I have seen that have kept me from experiencing them entirely yet.
Well what the hell I may as well say try looking further into the psychological genre though that may be a long shot. It's not for everyone and has noticeably less action than what you prefer but I have a feeling there's more than a couple psychological titles you'd enjoy.
You've already seen Death Note, Ergo Proxy, and Serial Experiments Lain. So how did you feel about those? I'm surprised you disliked Death Note but not Code Geass because I'm the opposite. Maybe it's because I watched Death Note first though, and maybe vice versa for you.
