Have you been studying Japanese too and what do you love most about Akira Ishida?
I mostly just wanted t see Kousei come out of his funk and
I gave it a 8/10. I really enjoyed it, but there were definitely some parts I would have done differently. But those are just my own prejudices. ^_^
I have to say members of the anime/manga community have always treated me kindly. After all, we are still mostly misfits in our respective circles so we tend to naturally band together. That's not to say I haven't gotten my fair share of puzzled looks and people asking me at cons if I was there with my kids lol! But it is absolutely wonderful to find women like you and Chelle who are have been around the block a few times and yet can't become giddy at the mere mention of TeniPuri. So yeah, thanks for sharing this ride with me.
Yeah, like that's gonna stop me from giving you your goodies: you will find them there all sweaty and steamy and ready for you!
Seriously, it's so nice to find like-minded gals like you and Chelle that I can share my passion with. There aren't too many of us around which make you guys all the more precious.
That being said, Miyuki has been a absolute favorite of mine since the very beginning. Attentive with his juniors, respectful with his seniors, very good at his job with a witty tongue and a killer smile? Oh yeah, I like that guy a lot. Just like I love Kuramochi for having such an infectious laugh. Just like I love Ryosuke for the very subtle and touching ways in which he keeps an eye on his baby brother. Annnnd just like I love Tetsuya 'cause he is so bloody intense, I get goose bumps every time he steps on the field. All and all, it's a great group of people and more show up with every new team Seidō competes against. It's just not as character-driven as shows like KnB or HQ.
The good news with KnB is that the manga finished its run right after the Winter Cup so unless a spinoff or a sequel gets off the ground, we'll be able to leave it at that. I don't know about you but I wouldn't be too keen on keeping up with the franchise if Kiyoshi, Kasamatsu, Imayoshi, Miyaji and Moriyama were gone. Heck, the only ones left at Shūtoku would be Shin-chan and Takao and although a sly part of me would really love to see those two play senior to a bunch of freshman, I think I would rather pass. Now, if they decide to do a few OVAs just to get the guys back together at say, a street-style tournament, you can definitely count me in.
I'm happy you enjoyed the fanart. There's a lot more where that came from! I'll keep posting in our Ladies' Thread.
And since I’ve been stuck in bed these last 2 days with a stomach flu, I’ve had plenty of time to clean up my messy KnB fanart library so here’s a first batch of goodies for ya!
I'll admit that Ace of Diamond dragged a bit during its fall season. But then the last 3 episodes (61, 62 and 63) hit me like a bloody freight train and made all that waiting sooo worth it. I strongly suggest you don't watch those with your family around... you're gonna want to cry and cheer and gasp and scream.
YowaPeda I've been watching with my hubby. It will probably remind you of Prince of Tennis in terms of how ridiculous and overblown things get. If you can take it all with a massive boulder of salt, then it is great fun.
6 more days to go...
... I love Seirin and I love Tōō but Kaijō is by far my favorite team. I really enjoy the vibe between those guys and I'm stoked they will be the first to hit the court when the season starts.
If you want something a tiny bit different, you could also check out Ginga e Kickoff, which is older and less drool-worthy but really sweet. It's by far my favorite "young children doing sports" anime.
Funny thing is... Kuroko starts on my birthday. Are we 2 lucky ladies or what?
Yup, we need our own thread to talk about stuff like that. It will be so much easier than to go back and forth between our profiles and I'm sure some of the guys wouldn't mind chiming in from time to time either. Yup, must talk to Chelle about it...
A very very Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Also, rejoice for the second season of Haikyuu!! has been officially announced in the latest Shounen Jump! No date so far but at least we know it's coming. Yeah, more cuteness on the way! We really need a Lady's Only thread at The Later Years to chat about that stuff.
Breaking my piggy bank and ordering the Kuroko OST CDs from Japan was one of the first thing I did after the end of the first season and I still listen to them on a regular basis. And no, it's not geeky at all!
I'm not super familiar with Deviantart, but that's probably just because I have my hands full with Pixiv. I would love to check out what you've gathered (even if it is based on series I haven't watched - good eye candy is always good) and I'll try to post some stuff as well.
The more I think about it the more it becomes obvious that I should really watch Prince of Tennis. It's kinda like a prerequisite for any sports anime fangirl and I'm a bit ashamed every time someone mentions it... It's just that 178 episodes is a long, long show.
And
Now, Kuroko is a slasher’s dream. I’ve got way too many active pairs to list and quite a few threesomes to boot. But that’s not why I love this show (although it definitely helps). I enjoy it because it pumps me up, it makes me laugh, it puts me on the edge of my seat with all of its bloody cliffhangers, it gives me a whole bunch of characters to root for, it dazzles me with some really cool animation, ... In other terms, it makes me feel very very alive for 20mn. And it challenges me to be a bigger anime fan than I thought I could ever be. Gurren Lagann had the exact same effect on me, and I love shows that just stare you down and dare you to keep up with them.
You hit the nail smack on the head with Haikyuu!! It does make you happy doesn’t it? Kinda like Barakamon, I remember how much I was looking forward to each new episode while it was streaming because I knew that a Haikyuu day would always end up being a good day. I was actually dealing with a lot of unpleasant stuff at the time and that little show helped a lot. That’s probably why it’s so dear to me. I just wish it had a better soundtrack OTZ ...
Sports anime has always been a favorite genre of mine. I think a lot of elements such as motivations, conflicts, aspirations, setbacks or growth, which are necessary for a good story, occur naturally within the context of competitive sports. They don’t need to be artificially worked in and so the narratives feel less forceful. Chihayafuru is a perfect example, with karuta serving as a backbone for the emotional journey of its characters. That said, that comment is brilliant. All hail the new reversed harems without the annoying girl!
See, I ramble as well…
Oh, and if you want some Kuroko eye-candy, I’ll try to post some more (I spend way too much time on pixiv…).
Honestly, I'm the biggest geek when it comes to that series and if you want to know how much of a silly fangirl I can be, well, when I was in Japan last year, I had my nails done at this salon in Akihabara that specializes in anime, and I got them to put my favorite ships on my digits. It looked like this and went Takao x Midorima, Kise x Kasamatsu, Aomine x Kagami and Kiyoshi x Hyuuga with my baby Imayoshi as the cherry on top of that cake. When I got back to the states, people kept asking me if those were my favorite baseball players lol!
I used to post Kuroko no Basket fanart of Chelle's profile page every week. Hmmm... maybe we should open up a topic for our idols at TLY?
Oh and I know you're going to love Haikyuu!! They are all soooo adorable, just like fluffy bunnies hopping around (lol)! I'm completely smitten with the characters and I love how the show has such a mellow and unassuming vibe. It's a nice change from the super-charged and overly smexy atmosphere of Kuroko. And it's so popular in Japan that there's no way we're not getting another season.
