Nice to meet you.
I'll try watching just about anything. Recommend something to me.
The kind of anime I enjoy watching most are anything with a thoughtful, psychological side. Good characters sell it for me.
I don't have a problem with watching long arcs.
The things that wind up resonating and sticking with me tend to be based on a number of particular preferences rather than critical reasons.

I'm glad that you liked my recommendation, Yuri Kuma Arashi is not as well valued as Mawaru Penguindrum or Utena but it's still a really good anime, so I strongly suggest you to check them out (I see you're already watching Mawaru, how're you liking it?).
I hope you had luck completing your challenge, and I wish you a happy 2019. :D
If you take anything from this comment, take this suggestion. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. You will at the very least like it.
Gankutsuou is pretty good too. Redline is like the last bit of Sword and the Stranger but for 90 minutes. Skip the 1st part of Manie-Manie and you'll probably enjoy it. It's more of the Katsuhiro Otomo stuff you got in Memories. Ghost in the Shell exists. It's solid.
But what I can recommend is anime that is not in your list, and one of them is Yuri Kuma Arashi. From the same director that made the legendary Shoujo Kakumei Utena, and the highly acclaimed Mawaru Penguindrum; Yuri Kuma is, so to say, the little lesbian sister of those two works. Don't let the rather low score deter you from watching it: shoujo-ai has lower score than most other genres in this site. Also, while fans of weird shit don't usually like too many lesbians in their shows, yuri fans don't usually like too much weird shit between yuri scenes, and both are relatively niche. Yuri Kuma is a metaphor of how yuri fans see yuri (you can look this up after you watch the show), and the director is well known because you need to rewatch his shows with a guide so that you're able to understand (almost) everything. If you are the type of person that enjoys that, or if you like both shoujo-ai and psychological anime, you should definitely check this one out.
My second recommendation is from another genre I've seen you also like mixed up with shoujo-ai (yes, I'm a sucker for shoujo-ai shows): Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha. Nanoha is Madoka Magica's spiritual predecesor, since it's a darker mahou shoujo show than most of its time and it was directed by the same person. Nanoha's origins, for such a big franchise, are so weird that they alone are a reason to watch at least the first season, but they are not the only unusual thing about it. Past that, we have its fanbase as a mahou shoujo show: it is super popular with yuri fans, and has its niche with mecha fans (more specifically Gundam fans), but is not tagged either of those genres because you won't see explicit yuri or mechas in the series. If you like either of those genres, or if you want to know more about a long-lasting franchise that spawned from a 3 minutes fanmade music ONA about one irrelevant character from the third visual novel of a series that, to this date, is so unknown that it hasn't had any of its titles (fan)translated to English, feel free to check it out.
Last, but not least, I will recommend you a personal favourite of mine: Planetes. Planetes is a show based on a realistic not so distant future, in which the Earth's inhabitants try to expand into space, with the problems that may arise with that. The story follows a small team with an important role that isn't given enough attention by the big corporation they work for, since it doesn't give them benefits, and how the members develop with the things that happen around them. If you like realistic anime, shows based on space, well made character development, or even if you don't, you should give this one a try.
I hope that you like whatever anime you choose, and that I didn't blunder too much assuming your tastes :P. Feel free to comment on the anime you ended up watching if you want, good luck with your challenge.
So you're watching Gintama that's great.
Well let me give you an advice.
Just for your information.
The first Episodes and following few Episodes can be quite average.
I know that it can be for many people, so maybe for you as well.
But it will improve a lot afterwards.
So I hope you will keep on watching Gintama
I hope to see you there soon~
