Pretty neat taste from what I can see

downloaded both Tool and Midori discographies, have tons of stuff to listen to next week.

Bokurano has been sitting on my ptw list, how is it so far ?

Tool is another one of those bands that i plan to check out at some point as i had it recommended by many Primus fans. ive listened to some songs like Lateralus and Schism, but i havent delved deeper into them. what would be the best album to get into Tool for a beginner ?

also, i listened to some songs from the new album, as it came up in my recommended on youtube, but didnt really like it either.

white light is one of mine favourite records from them, so i am really excited for this one.

it will have one song thats only 2 minutes, but its the first one. other than that, 4 songs with 10+ minutes. but no monstrosities like The Seer or Bring the Sun. 12 songs total with 93 minutes.

defending early Coldplay albums is a hill im willing to die on. people saying they sound way too whiny, well fuck off, sometimes i am a sad boy and i need whiny stuff to listen to. X&Y is one of my favourite albums of all time. in my ideal world, they disbanded in 2008 after Viva la Vida and there have been no albums since then. true thing about their influence by Radiohead, hell, i call Coldplay Radiohead-lite when referring to Parachutes.

god, i could talk about king gizzard for weeks, but im gonna control myself and say i agree that we are blessed that a band like that exists in this time and age. them and Ween are probably the most versatile rock bands that ever graced our planet. Paper Mache Dream Balloon, btw, easily my top 3 album from them.

the only Monogatari characted i just cant seem to like is Nadeko (i know, blasphemy). i found arcs with her as the main girl to be almost infuriating, but still great nevertheless. im not really the one that keeps track of best girls in series, but if i had to say, Hanekawa is probably my fav girl from Monogatari. and Kaiki. but Kaiki is in a league of his own.

its always nice to talk to someone that shares your interests and music opinions.

strictly speaking of bands, i would say King Gizzard stands at the top of my list, especially since they released their last album, which has been on repeat for two weeks straight for me. other than that, bands like Oh Sees, Primus, Foals, Sleep, Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, early Coldplay are amongst my favourites. also a lot of 2000s british indie stuff.

other times, i listen to my evergrowing playlist of OPs and EDs i really liked. anime introduced me to stuff like Asian Kung-Fu Generation or Eve, which i found out have some really good stuff outside the songs that were featured in anime. love most of the monogatari songs, mousou express, marshmallow justice and perfect slumbers are probably my favs.

monogatari series are truly something unique thats for sure. that makes them real hard to actually recommend to people, even ones that watch anime. there is literally nothing i could compare it to, both in anime and in western tv shows.

im going to see black midi live in october, and holy shit im hyped for that. one of the most exciting bands ive discovered in a long time. their KEXP session left me speechless when i saw it for the first time.

that reminds me ive been meaning to listen to both At the Drive-In and Mars Volta for a long time, thanks for reminding me, ive been dipping my toes in post-hardcore, noise and math rock for quite some time now, ive grown to enjoy bands like these.

not sure if you also heard of Otoboke Beaver, not really jazzy but they have similar energy to Midori

Nice, I like the way you think! Marina Inoue's songs hit deeper than the others thanks to her delivery. And I enjoy the slap-bass in yuudachi but perhaps it is a little too constant. Decent Black is definitely up there for me too, so great choice. And yes exactly, Monogatari has such consistently good OPs to me, and I'm always changing my order in which is best and in what order.
