That's a tough question to answer because I know in any kind of media, there is no masterpieces and ultimately it boils down to your own preferences and how it influences your own point of view of the said show or anime.
That said I have been absent in anime due to being busy with life, work and free time like taking my dog for a walk or having guy visitor for cough cough moments and such, attempting to balance it altogether is not a easy task.
But being asked what my favorite show is, is like trying to pick a show many people agree it is indeed amazing anime, with great plot, good pacing, nice character development with captivating visuals. but then again it boils down to my own taste.

If I had to pick one anime, it's probably Steins; Gate due to character, drama, and how intense it manages to be without utilizing over the top visuals and animations like many other shows do.
