Since I was very young I have looked for other worlds, accurately created fiction where I could feel I could step into.
I loved cartoons and then books, especially fantasy like Tolkien (my biggest passion) and Ursula K LeGuin. Again fully developed worlds, as if they really existed. I had such an urge that I created my own fictional worlds through writing but since I entered the University (to study English Literature and Linguistics) I've had no time to expand on my several story lines.
I had watched Sailor Moon when I was like 8, and absolutely loved it, but then books became more interesting that TV. I never knew of anime again until three years ago when a friend of mine suggested I should watch "Full Metal Alchemist", and I was thrilled, for there was magic and a place completely new where I could plunge in with no difficulties.
Ever since I've craved for good anime series and have been dissappointed a few times. Then came "Bleach" which I devotely watch every week until today (and wished the story hadn't strayed from its original course so much), or when I can control myself I skip a few weeks and have a bleach-feast.
I haven't watched many series and I arrived to this page looking for those that would change my world (if not it's not worth it). I'm open to reccomendations, but I am harsh criticizing when I don't like something.

And no, Tengen Toppa is not similar to Eureka Seven. Yeah, they both have mechas, but the story line, characters and everything else is totally different.
Tengen Toppa is fun in a weird way. It's totally exaggerated, while Eureka Seven goes at a slow pace, and the characters are not as "flashy" as Tengen Toppa.
Tengen Toppa is exaggerated till the end, so you either like it or hate it. I was kind of in the middle!
About Eureka Seven, I can't really recommend anything similar. It's a one-of-a-kind for me. Either that, or I haven't watched enough anime! :P
@Pandaman: Yep. Too bad. I still want my caps! :/
@geyik: Gintama is on my list. I'm really after the manga first, before the anime.
I suggest you watch just the Bakeneko arc of Ayakashi - Japanese Classic Horror (episodes 9-11) and then Mononoke.
Hope that helps and you enjoy the series.
