Oh hi there, I'm Varyn, your typical borderline otaku. I spend my time avoiding productivity by watching anime, gaming, listening to music and general internet....ing?. Very unique hobbies I'm sure none of you share.
Here's a quick insight into my divine perceptions into the best and worst anime has offered me in each category.
PLOT
Worst: Angels Egg ('Plot' you know that thing stories are meant to have)
Best: Baccano! (A crazy cluster fuck of awesomeness that can't be described in a single sentence. It gets better and better with every rewatch)
CHARACTERS
Worst: School Days (It's almost impressive they managed to make an anime where you literally want to murder EVERY single character in the entire show)
Best: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (They're all just so FABULOUSSSSSSS!!!)
ANIMATION:
Worst: Tsukihime (Every fight scene looks like a 3 page flipbook, it's basically manga with colour)
Best: Ghost in the Shell SAC (Still looks spectacular even after 10 years)
ART STYLE
Worst: Kanon 2002 (http://i.imgur.com/oz4oA.jpg)
Best: Bakemonogatari (If you've mastered the art of reading subs at relativistic speeds you'll be able to look up every once in a while and realize how goddamn beautiful this show is )
SOUNDTRACK/OPENINGS
Worst: Kaminomi II (Honorable mentions: Another, Denpa Onna)
Best: Baccano, Clannad, FMAB, Higurashi, Higashi no Eden... (How do I pick :( ?)

Slice of Life:
The weakest side of the show is its characters, well, just how can you name the character of a character who spent half of the series in the outhouse?
Although there is still a little positive in this series.
I love Hataraku Maou-Sama but I agree that Maou never really has any aggressive/evil actions and while it's funny seeing him adapt so quickly by getting a job and complaining about being poor, it almost seemed like he didn't need to. Emi never shows any strong resentment even though he's killed so many. Even in the LN, she just talks about it, saying how it was so 'bad' and 'unforgivable' and maybe cries a bit but her anger/sadness never seems genuine.
