Out of all the anime that didn't get another season, I'm glad Chihayafuru got one. Pretty shocked since season 2 ended so long ago and I had already accepted that there would be no sequel.

The first Episodes and the following first Episodes can be quite average.
I know that it can be for many people. So maybe for you as well.

But it will improve a lot afterwards.

Haha claymore was actually one of the series that got me really into anime. Really liked the story but never got around to reading the manga. I actually ended up binge reading chihayafuru and haven't had a chance to watch any of the new airing anime haha. The matches are a lot less entertaining to read but that's the same for any action focused anime haha. Still have a while before I get up to date but it's still a fun read. I like when there's a bit of romance (team taichi) but it's not the main focus of the show because it can be pretty draining to watch. The manga has a nice balance and hasn't gotten soapy at all so far :)

Haha can't believe you waited this long to finish season 2. Maybe you didn't want that empty feeling you get after a good series end. I haven't been depressed after watching an anime in a long time. i usually don't read manga but I will pick up from where they ended in the anime as well. I didn't expect to become so invested in the characters and to enjoy watching them play karuta as much as I did haha. We'll both have to see how cool karuta looks when it's not animated. The manga will give me more time to appreciate the poems being read because there's just so much going on when I'm watching the anime lmao.

Pretty random but I literally just finished Chihayafuru (it was great) and just randomly quoted one of your comments on the season 1 forums from 4 years ago. Ended up checking your page and seeing that you just watched/rewatched the OVA hahaha. Just a crazy coincidence. About to watch the OVA now. Peace.
