I totally understand your feelings about TMOHS. There are definitely a lot of problems with it. It's not linear and people take the broadcast order to mean something "special" when I feel like it was just Kyoto Animation's attempt to be edgy.

Whether it be out of personal meaning or hype or just something about the series, I liked TMOHS a lot. I felt like the character archetypes were meant to be there, and that the anime and its plot was a platform to manipulate those archetypes. Disappearance was probably the real meat of the series. The characters got a lot of depth. But that doesn't really excuse how messily executed it was.

Have you tried watching it in chronological order instead? I think it's much more enjoyable that way. The story makes no sense in broadcast order. People watch it that way, then in chronological to have the "original feel" but I don't think that's relevant anymore.

I don't get how, but our anime compatibility is 85.8% even though your opinion about the Dragon Ball series, Naruto, One Piece and Suzumiya Haruhi (some of my favorite shows) is radically different from mine. However, your review of Suzumiya Haruhi was excelent, so I have no complaints.
