Same. I enjoy lots of American dramas like Fargo, Westworld and Justified. I also watch some Canadian stuff like Vikings, and there are many British series I love, too.

You must not watch movies often because there's plenty of good movies. Didn't you just watch In the Mood for Love? That's a great film. I don't know what my favorite genre in film would be either. I don't think I have a huge bias for genres. I'll have more bias towards filming techniques and narrative motifs, than I will for a complete genre. I love a good horror and science fiction, and there\s just not many of either these days that I'd consider great.

What do you mean by this? I think everything has to be worked out to be good. Doesn't just apply to films.

My name's Amelia. What's your name?

Now you do know, and knowing is half the battle. XD

Oh, fair enough. I'm a big film hobbyist. I love movies. I don't watch as many anime or TV shows, but sometimes I come across something that catches my interest.

Sounds good.

Understandable. XD

Oh, I see. You could have mentioned so many others things such as how we're located beneath a torn ozone layer, or the refugee problem that's gotten better. You could have asked about if Australia resembles a Mad Max film. So much potential not explored. :P

I don't usually try to keep a conversation going. If it's wrapped up, and the conversation is ending, I just let it end. Then maybe I bring up a new line of thought for discussion.

Yeah, they both suspected their spouse (husband/wife) having an affair with each other because of their individual loneliness, on how they ate alone in their rooms. This helps them get closer. In the Mood for Love is a film about loneliness and how loving someone happens out of your control.

Yeah, I've seen kangaroos. Why do you ask?

That's unfortunate that the literary world is being ignored for anime.

Tientsin Mystic, it's 24 episodes. Amazing series. For films, I'd recommend In the Mood for Love (2000), 2046 (2004), Chungking Express (1994), Happy Together (1997), all 4 of these films are directed by Wong Kar-wai. Considered one of the greatest Chinese filmmakers. I'd recommend Eat Drink Man Woman (1994) and Pushing Hands (1992), amazing early works by Ang Lee. Flowers of Shanghai (1998), directed by Hou Hsiao-hsien, a Taiwanese director like Ang Lee. Farewell My Concubine (1993) directed by Chen Kaige. Oh, and I forgot to include wuxia films as I'm sure you enjoy that genre. Anything directed by King Hu, such as Come Drink with Me (1966), Dragon Gate Inn (1967) and A Touch of Zen (1971).

I live in Australia.

Remembrance of Earth's Past, which is a trilogy of novels consisting of: The Three-Body Problem, The Dark Forest and Death's End, authored by Liu Cixin. It's not wuxia of any kind, rather hard science fiction. It's brilliant, especially with how the book explains dimensions and sophons. It begins with the Cultural Revolution and spans 40 years. Folding Beijing by Hao Jingfang, another great piece of science fiction. The Chess Master by Ah Cheng. I'd recommend the Four Great Classical Novels: Journey to the West, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Water Margin and Dream of the Red Chamber. I'd even recommend some stuff not written in China if you want more of the Chinese culture. A good book to start with might be Deng Xiaoping and the Transformation of China by Ezra F. Vogel. It analyzes the political and economic impact the communist leader had on China and its current state. You wanted something wuxia, though... The Smiling, Proud Wanderer by Jin Yong, or really, anything by Jin Yong. I'm not sure if any of his books have been translated into English. I read most of his works in its original format.

You like anime and manga, so I'd recommend Quan Zhi Gao Shou, a 12 episode anime series about eSports. It's one of the few anime to actually understand gaming. The other being Log Horizon, but that's Japanese.

The Ravages of Time is a series I'd recommend. I noticed you had Kingdom on your favorites, so I'll use that as a comparison. It's equivalent to a much more mature, convoluted version of Kingdom, and actually Chinese.

There's also some great Chinese television and films I could recommend if you're interested in that.

No need to apologize. Not everyone is fluent in another language. Chinese is my first language, and I learned English alongside it. Both of my parents migrated from China before I was born.

Yes, I'm familiar with the Chinese literary subgenre. Journey to the West would be categorized under xianxia. I'm curious as to why you asked, though. Seems like a random thing to bring up. XD

You're welcome.

Take it with a grain of salt. I haven't read this series in over a year and it was when I first got into light novels and the site I was using at the time had 700+ chapters numerically uploaded. I don't know if it really had over 700, or there was a mistake with the numerical system applied when counting. I'm always a bit skeptical when it comes to how many chapters something has when reading online. That's why I no longer read light novels online and physically purchase the copies to read them, and no longer fill in the chapters on MAL for light novels.
