Just a gearhead, ironically with a B.S. in Computer Science... My friend got me into anime. Then I binged watch for like a year-ish... but tbh as of lately I haven't watched much recently as I've been busy.
If any of you fellow anime watchers also happen to be gearheads, y'all should check out BITOG:
I've been a member there since 12/24/2013. You could say that, since then, I've become obsessed with motor oil, oil filters, and all things related to oil. Got a question about your vehicle's oil or filter needs? Register there for free and you'll be warmly welcomed by some of the nicest folks you'll ever meet for being an online forum. Just take what a few of the folks say with a grain of salt sometimes.
Anywho, although I'm not too much a brand loyal kind of person (although I'm a bit partial to Pennzoil), I will tell you this: Never use the OCOD (that is, the Orange Can Of Death, aka the cheapo orange Fram filter). Now, the Fram Ultras are fine, as they are the top-of-the-line (top-tier) of their filter line up; just stay away from the orange cans - they use cardboard media and have been known to cause multiple engine failures. The Fram Ultra on the other hand uses synthetic filter media that is wire backed with metal end caps. I don't always use Fram Ultras, but I'm currently using one at the moment because it was on sale for a good price.
My typical go-to oil filters are Wix. They can be found at O'Reilly's Auto Parts (my personal favorite auto parts store). They have the entry level "MicroGard" (O'Reilly's house brand low-tier filter made by Wix); then the mid-tier standard Wix filter, and then the top-tier Wix XP filters with synthetic media that is wire backed. Wix also has some special racing filters, but those are not for street use. NAPA brand filters are also made by Wix - Silver, Gold, and Platinum (low; mid; top-tier respectively).
If you would like to know more feel free to PM me here on MAL and I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.
