I've watched quite a lot of anime. Please check my list for recommendations.
Note that I grade very strictly compared to most, and use the entire range of grades. Anime that are rated on this site around 7.0 usually fall into my 5 bucket, since most users here IMO are far too generous with very high grades and rarely use the low end of the scale. Since I like the average anime, an average rating from me is not a bad thing at all. The bell curve distribution of my ratings with very few getting the highest (>6) grades or the lowest (<4) grades is not accidental. I assume you're reading this because you want find the best shows or avoid the worst ones, and my rating system is designed to help you do that.
As a person with a good deal of experience and a strong - if informal - education in theater and storytelling techniques, my ratings are biased in the direction of those shows which demonstrate skill in areas such as plot, character development, use of tropes and dramatic tension.
How to interpret my strict anime grading system:
10 - As close to perfect as you're going to get. These will leave an indelible impression on anyone who watches them.
9 - True works of art. Maybe not perfect, but not far from it.
8 - Superior productions that should be seen by every anime fan, even if it's not your favored genre.
7 - These shows are done very very well and have something special about them that puts them in a "cream of the crop" category.
6 - This rating is above average. You'll get more for your time than with a typical production. Usually come with some sort of flaw or drawback, but not such a serious one that you shouldn't watch it. Anything at this rating or above is recommendable.
5 - Average is average. Not great, not bad. Will generally be a good time to watch these if you enjoy the genre but you shouldn't expect anything special.
4 - Will have some sort of critical flaw that seriously detracts from the production. It might be watchable, if you bring a few grains of salt along with you, but there are probably better choices out there unless you've seen everything else already.
3 - These have few redeeming qualities and make you wonder why they were ever made.
2 - Not just bad, but really bad. You'll be upset you wasted your time.
1 - Reserved for shows so horrible that it would be genuinely painful to be forced to sit through them.
