How about you?
I’m also doing fine as well, thanks for asking :3.
And no, we haven’t talked before at all lol.
I just happened to stumble upon your profile because it looked really nice and cool and you also seem to be a rather nice and chill person to talk to as well, so I was just wondering if we could chat together and hopefully become good friends on here if you don’t mind. 😊
How are you doing?
Oh, that's understandable. I still watch seasonals, but even then I've been dipping back into past seasons and older works to try and pick out stuff I missed or my friends suggest. It's definitely easy to burn out while trying to follow too much. Seasonals aren't really all that good either, despite me watching many of them. For me, it's more like an enjoyment in being surprised thing. I don't really come in with many expectations and when I find something that sneaks up on me (Tsuki ga Kirei, High Score Girl, Hamefura, Great Pretender, etc.) that I may not have watched without the seaonal push, I always feel really happy. I guess it's like the radio. I still listen to the radio in 2021 while in the car and I enjoy flipping the channels to find a song that I like or discover a new one.
Everyone has their own pace though, so finding that enjoyment and rhythm is the most important thing (even if it means not watching anime). :)
I'm doing fine! I moved out from my parents and I... what else did I do? I switched jobs I'm pretty sure twice since we last spoke, so I just started a new one and it's going well. I'm working from home, but I also think many people on my team are remote so that means when pandemic is over I'll likely have the choice to work from home full time. That said, I think I'd rather do half and half in the office and from home, as being isolated at home is a bit tiring and emotionally straining for me -- I don't know if I would have said this without experiencing this firsthand from pandemic. Otherwise, everything else is going well. We're in a provincial lockdown (Ontario), but COVID hasn't really affected the day-to-day of people I know or my family here.
Yeah, I feel that about swimming and climbing. Well not those specifically for me, but this past week provincial rules got clarified that parks can't be loitered in and I had been enjoying playing soccer/football and basketball in my spare time there. Now I can't do that, so I'm back to just walking really (I can't run outdoors since my muscles and feet don't like hard surfaces). And given social distancing, all my sports leagues are cancelled too which kind of sucks. I play football competitively and I haven't played in like... what feels like forever now. Fitness definitely on the down for me too. :(
Nice! Yokohama Shopping Log is really good. Aria (another similar manga) got a physical English release also over the last two years and I collected all the volumes of it. I have them on a shelf next to me haha.
I'll check out BL Metamorphosis! I added it to my PTR. Funny timing, I'm watching Land of the Lustrous with one of my friends. Our pace kind of sucks because she usually comes over to my house to watch (and pandemic lockdown now) but still haha. I'd love a second season and I probably won't read the manga until the anime adaptation's wheels fall off, since it was a visual treat.
Nice! I love Ping Pong so much. It really speaks to me on a personal level when it comes to sports and just life I guess. Who's your favourite character?
2 years is a long time, but even though I barely remember anything about Koe no Katachi, I do remember the feels that I got :D
Considering that I'm not really the emotional type, it's a pretty big thing for me to say that it moved me :3
I'm still doing art, in fact, I live off of my art (Patreon and art commissions), though I occasionally have to do part-times here and there :D
I still don't have a car or know how to drive, but it's okay, because I don't really go anywhere lol
I don't really watch as much anime as I used to either, simply because I don't really have time due to being busy with art and whatnot, but I still watch a decent amount :3
I'm not really interested in Ghibli movies, but I'm hyped for the next Jojo, even though I haven't even see Part 4 and 5 :D (I've read the manga tho)
Ping Pong I've heard a lot about, and I saw many times that it has a high rank, but I just never really got hyped for it to watch, even though I know I'd like it lol
I'm "surviving this real life shitstorm" pretty well, since it's not that different from the life I've had so far :D
yeah, i never could get too much into pure death metal, I like a little bit of morbid angel, death, and obituary here and there, but only so much at a time lol. Ive been exploring a ton lmao, I keep going down the essentially bottomless youtube/spotify rabbit holes. Though my favorites that i keep coming back to are Dark Tranquility, Insomnium, Septicflesh, etc. Really been enjoying folk metal also, like amorphis and eluveitie. Though i like basically all types of metal, melodeath, folk, power, symphonic, prog some death, black and thrash here and there lol
I havent really listened to a whole lot of sirenia recently, but I did enjoy there 2016 album, with the new vocalist.
Anyways, I graduated in Computer Science. Haha, I lost a lot of my time lately to Discord and Reddit, as I moderate r/anime. That and Fate/Grand Order (gacha games are bad).
Luluco was totally not my cup of tea, though that's usually the case with Trigger stuff. The ED is lovely though, I'll give it that.
I'm going to break this up into spoiler tags so it's easier for you to read:
Thoughts on the other seasonals you've picked up? Any changes over the past month?
I haven't watched Devilman, but I probably should. I generally like Yuasa's work a lot, but I haven't been in the mood to tackle it yet.
Violet Evergarden is an interesting show. So far, I haven't found it particularly spirited at all, but I enjoyed episode five (the age gap romance) a lot. That was a very cute episode and I thought it was very candid in dealing with both the prince and princess. Hopefully it gets better, as the production is incredible.
Darlifra is actually a pretty fun show, though I'm not particularly keen on mecha stuff. One of my friends loves it and she really likes 02 so I clipped this for her. I don't think the story is fantastic at all, but I think it's reasonable for what it is. It's hovering somewhere around the average mark for me.
Yuru Camp is comfy before bed, but not much else beyond that. I'm also watching Cardcaptor (good), Takagi-san (good in small doses), Fate/Extra (Nasu and Shaft pls be gentle), Mitsuboshi Colors (good start, meh since), Gakuen Babysitters (I have a ship in this show, but I don't see a romance happening but kids are cute), Hakumei to Mikochi (zzz), and a few other randoms or holdovers from last season (Mahoyome, Black Clover, etc.).
Quite a list, but yeah. While I'm on the topic of kids, I wish someone would adapt Love So Life. It's one of my favourite age gap romances (which I referred to earlier in my KoiAme quote) and I would 10/10 recommend it if you like reading manga, like kids, and are cool with shoujo romances.
Citrus! LOL. I've been reading it for two years. It's really bad. I started it on my conquest to find out if there's any good shoujo ai/yuri manga and my research hasn't proven particularly well. There's a few good anime (Oniisama e, Marimite) and one manga I like (My Lesbian Experience With Loneliness).
Land of the Lustrous was a really good show! I might read the manga, but I'm hoping for a S2. I really want to see more of it. Dragon Dentist was a fun show. I don't think it was great, in my opinion, but it was a treat to look at and experience.
I just watched Koe no Katachi and I have no words...
It was beautiful :''''''3
