Not really to anal about how I rate a series. I basically have four tiers for ratings based on how much I enjoyed the series:
10 - I really enjoyed it. Will absolutely rewatch/reread over again in the future.
9 - Had fun watching it, only tiny annoyances. Will probably rewatch/reread again in future.
8 - Not bad, couple of problems here and there. Maybe rewatch/reread if out of things to do.
7 - Meh, didn't really excite me to much but still managed to keep my interest. Most likely not rewatching/rereading.
Very rarely do I have usually have anything below those ratings since I tend to just drop the series and leave it unrated(I don't like rating a series I have not finished).
This is just a relaxing hobby of mine so I don't really see the point of forcing myself to finish something I'm not enjoying and then go whine about how terrible it was on the forums. Nor do I bash other people for liking a certain series, it's pointless.

Valvrave is...not very good. It's a result of Sunrise trying to be experimental and it fails rather miserably at it. There's a lot of interesting ideas in Valvrave such as the space vampires, the secret society that controls everything or L-Elf's motivations for betraying his home country and trying to start a revolution. But honestly, nothing ever comes from it. The series is far too short for any of these ideas to properly gel together into something coherent, and as a result you end up with a lot of wasted potential. It also doesn't help that its characters are awful. L-Elf aside, the characters are incredibly flat and uninteresting and have very little to offer apart from very poorly written stereotypes. There's also things like the rather infamous rape scene in case you're uncomfortable with something like that. Oh, and Valvrave the musical, another rather infamous Valvrave moment that caused people to question whether or not this show was a parody of mecha or not. (And even if it was, it still wouldn't make up for the show's flaws.)
Overall, Valvrave's not very good at all. It was definitely an experience, but it was a trainwreck of an experience, it was a show that was memorable but for all the wrong reasons. And as an actual fan of mecha myself, it fails at even delivering entertaining giant robot battles, which is another mark against it. Overall, you should probably avoid watching it, especially after coming off something like Majestic Prince.
