Hahaha I can feel you! I remember that up until 500 animes I hadn´t dropped any. But over the time I started to get tired a bit. By tired I mean... of enduring animes I was not enjoying. Then I started dropping here and then. My drop rate I guess it´s still low, because I still have this "maybe (this anime) might get better", but even so dropping here and then got to be a reaity.

Same here! I have realized that these past seasons my favorites aren´t the hyped nor the high scored ones. People tend to create false expectations on us by 'hypeing' animes, and when I start to watch it´s when I end up thinking: "this is not special/awesome as people are saying it to be". So it´s when I get dissapointed. Sure not all hypes will have the same outcomes of dissapoitment. Even so, usually, I am centered in my own enjoyment and opinion, and so the score I give depends on me alone.

Those rating scales.... and that is not unusual here on MAL. That is a big reason why mean scores aren´t trustful. I am usually strict to my own scores and I usually use all the numbers available. So when I see rating scales like that I go "noooooooo~~" hahahaha
I have seen people rating like this: 1 to all animes I don´t like; 5 to okish animes; and 10 to animes I like. Just using 1, 5 or 10. In other worlds, even a good anime can end up 1 or 5 on the hands of rating scales like that.


Exactly. Recently we lack 'pure' romance. By pure I mean.. focusing on the romace tag.
And now that you mentioned it... the SHOUJO genre has been more common? If I am not mistaken. It was as if romance left and shoujo joined the game xD Usually, we do have romance in shoujo, but you know what I mean. Shoujo gives off lots of cringy/cheesy romance. But what I wanted to see is a "normal" romance if I can put it like that.

I think it´s a trendy. There is this genre trendy, then after a few seasons it´s another genre trendy. The thing is how much certain trendy will last. I just hope the trendy I like most last a long time uhauhauhauhauhuha xD

Exactly! Also by watching less animes every year you start to be more selective in what you are watching. And those that aren´t pleasing you much, you don´t feel like spending much of your time on it (dropping ending haha).

After some time, I realized MAL mean score is not very trustful >.< There are very nice animes with low mean score, and also many high scored animes but that aren´t that good.
Recently (these past seasons), there were lots of animes with low mean score here on MAL that I ended up enjoying more than the high scored ones.
Curiously, I was discussing exactly this same things with someone else 2 days ago xD
People don´t know "how to rate" or many of them don´t take the score seriously. Some times either they will go BOOM score or "down the hill" score xD
I believe hyped animes have high score because many people let the flow guide them: If everybody is hypeing and enjoying, then I will enjoy too and here is my 10/10 score, something like that lol xD

PS.: Not saying all hyped animes are necessarily overrated or not good.

Like, it does not happens often, BUT, when you think they won´t do it ever again... it´s when they decide to add a cheesy romance scene like that and you go "nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! Please stop once and for all!!"

Now that you mentioned it, I also don´t remember when it was the last time I watched a true and good romance anime. I have noticed that animes like that aren´t common as they were before >.<
I have never watched Whisper of the Heart, by the way.

Exactly. I remember when I started in 2014, first anime I watched for real was Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai, right after I create a profile here on MAL. That time was remarkable cause it was when I joined as a rookie the anime world xD I am still here! Nice and good. But now as a veteran and dropping more animes here and then and probably with slighly less time? Hahahaha

Hm, if you ever end up finishing Akebi-chan let me know your opinion about the 2nd half - if you remember.
I particularly prefer the pace and how they were doing things in the 1st half, but lately I started to realize how big is the amount of animes I end up prefering the 1st half over the 2nd.... I don´t know wether it´s a coincidence or not.....

Yes, even part 1 over the time started to have that sub-plot romance that makes me go "oh my.... *sigh* " hahaha
For example, there are few scenes where the silver-haired girl (Vladilena) is talking via telephone or something with the Mr. Cool MC (Shinei), then there are very quick times when they focus the camera on the girl´s mouth to show her smiling after hearing Mr.Cool MC voice xD as if deep inside she was saying "kya~~~ I think I am starting to feel in love~~" LoL Then things like that starts to get more evident over the time.
Even though they are quick scenes, cheesy romances like that are enough to bother me >.< hahahaha xD

Hm, I understand you. I remember the times I used to watch every show I find mildly interesting. Well... I still do that xD but the difference is that nowadays I am dropping more of those shows when compared to the old days >.<

I am yet to know the shows if this current season. I am always 1 season behind - but that is on purpose (bingewatch or to watch a good amount of episodes in a row of that same anime).

However, naturally I noticed that Spy x Family is the hyped anime of the season. I hope there is not cringy/cheesy romance in that anime. I mean, they are a family and it´s natural romance between the couple, but I hope that does not overshadown everything else - I am judging there is more to the anime besides Family (i.e the Spy part).

Akebi-chan was a good anime. I specially enjoyed the 1st half; the second part was not as enjoyable as the 1st - in my opinion. But in general a good anime for what it is. Art and animation specially caught my attention.

Hm, so there might be romance in 86 part 2.
Part 1 had that sub romance between the MC and the silver-haired girl. And it was the type of cheesy romance that usually bothers me hahaha At these times I personaly prefer no romance >.<

Indeed, who knows part 2 isn´t better... I will watch and see how it will turn out to be..... >.<

Sincerely, I have watched 86 part 1, and I think it was a meh anime (I really can´t see why people enjoyed it tis much since there are similar -yet low scored- animes out there).
So, I am planing to watch part 2 but I don´t want to have to endure any romance in this anime hahaha

100% agree. some character arcs were so stunted i wasn't even sure what exactly was going on. probably doesn't help that i haven't seen the 1st season in a few years.

wishful thinking but i'd love to see a 2nd season. i think there's still a lot more they could touch on in the industry especially pay but maybe that's a sensitive subject.
