Feel free to recommend me something you think I'd like, or comment/message me about anything you want to mention or talk about.
My anime/manga likes and dislikes:
Comedy:
I like witty comedy, or comedy that depends on character personalities and relationships. (Skip Beat, Ore no Imouto, Kodomo no Jikan, K-On, Lucky Star)
I dislike slapstick, corniness, ridiculousness/absurdity, silliness, and most parodies. (Level E, Negima, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Sora no Otoshimono, Yuru Yuri, Baka to Test)
Romance:
I like romance that actually develops, even if it's just subtle. (Toradora, Ef - a tale of memories, Skip Beat, Spice and Wolf, Bakemonogatari, Kimi ni Todoke)
I dislike romances where the relationships are superficial, don't develop or play much role in episodes, are unrealistic, or where the couple are too kind and proper with each other. At least make one of them sarcastic or something so that they aren't so disgustingly bland and make me cringe... (Ah! My Goddess, Air, Elfen Lied)
Moe:
I like moe characters that are so cute and funny ya just want to hug 'em like a cute puppy. (K-On, Usagi Drop, Lucky Star, Ore no Imouto, Mitsudomoe, Toradora)
I dislike the kind of moe based on a high-pitched, squeaky voice, excited, doll-like child (a.k.a. Mickey Mouse personalities) or goody-two-shoes (totally pure-hearted, overly-friendly, naive, shallow personality) or one-dimensional characters. (Ah! My Goddess, Sora no Otoshimono, Yuru Yuri, Samurai Girls, Baka to Test)
Ecchi/Hentai:
I like ecchi/hentai, but it's not sexy if it's just boobs, panties or sex. To be sexy, there needs to be romance, cuteness, or some sort of believable, unforced situation, and the characters need to have personality.
Characters:
I like strong-willed, smart, witty main protagonists (especially when a single male is the lead) who acts how I want him/her to act (or at least take understandable actions) so that I can sympathize with him/her and put myself in their shoes. (Spice and Wolf, Usagi Drop, Death Note, Kodomo no Jikan, Kanon, The World Only God Knows, Eve no Jikan, Toradora, Angel Beats, Skip Beat)
I dislike weak, crybaby, indecisive, cowardly, annoying protagonists (especially a male lead). (Gantz, Kanokon, Elfen Lied, Welcome to the NHK!, Chobits, To LOVE-Ru)
Story Themes and Styles:
I like stories where nobody believes in the protagonists' abilities or worthiness and they face nothing but scorn, ridicule, and pity, but throughout the story are constantly impressing everyone unexpectedly, changing minds, and winning their praise and affection, and becoming heroes. This also makes for good Tsundere characters who start out as skeptics but are slowly seduced into dropping their tough attitudes. (Skip Beat!, Chihayafuru, Great Teacher Onizuka, Zero no Tsukaima, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari, The World Only God Knows)
I dislike forced drama, such as someone getting angry and running off due to a misunderstanding, unwilling to listen to an explanation, or other instances where characters do stupid things to create dramatic situations. (Elfen Lied, Gantz, Myself; Yourself, Welcome to the NHK!)
I dislike stories that jump around a lot, conveniently leave out details and explanations in order to surprise you later (details that the characters would know, but only you are kept in the dark), and try to tell many stories at once in order to weave them together as if that is supposed to make up for all the lack of details and lack of focus that make up the majority of the story. (Baccano, Durarara, Darker than Black)
I dislike shounen-style fighting and shounen-style heroes. Your yelling and grunting while you fight does not make it more dramatic... Along these same lines, I don't think I'd like very many Mecha shows either. (I avoid these shows, so I don't have many great examples)

I just read Valmont, which I stumbled across by chance and that already fit my quest so perfectly I am still savouring on it.
Have you seen anything good lately?
It does seem to fit the theme of slice of life/ Iyashikei though in that not much happens, so in a way I definitely got what I asked for. I still prefer Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei to anything else I've seen recently though. <3
It's so funny that you should mention Genshiken because I just received the first season from my local library this week and I came on here specifically to update that!
I still have yet to see Usagi Drop, which I am sorry for because I know it is one of your favourites and I definitely trust your opinion. I promise to get to it sooner rather than later, especially now that I have a little bit more computer access time.
Also, I loved what I've seen of both Nodame Cantabile and Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei (I was watching them when my computer died). I think Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei might be my favourite thing since I marathoned Higashi no Eden or found Gintama!
I am still on the fence about DURARARARARARARARARARA!!! so I will leave it for now.
It was so nice to hear form you again! Enjoy Nodame Cantible!! ^_^
It's been awhile since we chatted, but I wanted to say hello and mention a new reviewer you might like (but he's a bit new). He asked my advice and while I really liked his review, all of my good advice seems to come from our past conversations, so i thought I would mention him to you for a second opinion.
TTFN, I hope!
Micha
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! Even if you're not from the States or don't celebrate it, I'm still thankful that I know you just a little bit from this far off ether.
I'll check that out but if you find a series with an overpowered hero as the main protagonist (possibly with a love interest or few) be sure to let me know.
Examples - Kaze no Stigma, forementioned Chrome Shelled Regios, Hellsing, Darker Than Black in a way.
Well I didn't mean the story in that manner. Story in sola isn't as "convoluted" as it is in Air so yeah I really think you should be fine with it.
I watched Kanon of course (I even have an AMV from that series in my "favorite amv" section. And I must say this is one of the very few cases in which remake was better than the original.
I kinda' had a feeling that it was a bit similair to Air (not just my opinion even though I liked sola more than Air). It has been quite a while since I watched it but from what I recall it was a pretty enjoyable show (I still secretly wait for CSR knowing it ain't gonna happen anytime soon if ever).
Oh one more thing - main female lead in Sola (Matsuri) is mega-awesome :D
I'll turn it on for the time being though, if you want to see.
