RIP
I've been trying to decide on which anime to get. I've narrowed down my choices to Eureka Seven and Mysterious Girlfriend X. I'm going to try to convince myself to buy one of those next year.
That Keijo ad is hilarious when you think about it. It's a giant poster of an ass on the side of a building, lol. Something like that wouldn't get a pass in The States. Too many people would complain about how sexist and objectifying it was.
A high school battle harem or four isn't so bad as long as unique shows are still being made. I'd have to give up on anime otherwise.
Yuri on Ice is a testament to how brilliant Sayo Yamamoto is as a director. I have literally no interest in figure skating, and yet she made that story more fun and heartfelt than many shows that are about things that I care about. I gave it an 8/10, the same rating that I gave Flip Flappers.
While the "love conquers all" was laid on a bit thick, it didn't hamper my overall enjoyment of Flip Flappers. I gave it a bonus point for imagination, and for never being dull.
How did you feel about these shows? Are you looking forward to anything this Winter?
Happy new year! ^_^
I heard that Flip Flappers and Keijo aren't doing well in Japan. :( Japan used to bask in their weirdness, and now they seem to be adverse to it. Anime is probably destined to become more normal and formulaic. It was fun while it lasted. RIP.
I saw that Keijo scene in full, and I don't understand what they're doing either, lol. It was a hilarious scene, though. The girl on the left had a butt that acted like a homing missile. XD
Black Jack is outstanding. It has a few hammy moments, but as a whole it takes itself very seriously. Our mutual friend Shocked essentially described it as a series of mini-movies. That would be a fair assessment. It's episodic, so you can watch it at your own pace without pressure to finish it.
Are you still enjoying Yuri on Ice?
Anyways, I can tell by your praise that Fune wo Amu is your favorite of the season but do any others stand out to you? I have to say that The Great Passage is my favorite as well haha. I might have to see the live adaptation once the show is done.
Here's some classy Keijo action that you've been missing out on.
I re-watched Haibane Renmei a month or two ago. Yeah, it still holds up very well. It's still a 10 in my book. I finally started Rose of Versailles, which had a very strong first episode. I'm bracing myself for the impending tragedy train.
