Happy new year! :D I am currently watching way too much stuff, but my highest recommendation for new-ish things definitely goes to Wonder Egg Priority, an original series by Cloverworks. It deals with some pretty heavy subject matter though, so if you're looking for something more lighthearted Horimiya is shaping up to be a great romcom. And while i am generally pretty cynical about shounen, Jujutsu Kaisen has been impressing me.

Enjoy drawing, as a hobby or a goal or whatever you like! If you want to improve, just make sure you draw every day that is the most important thing. Even if it's just for a little bit. Make some time for it, and use it as an outlet.

ohh it was better than I expected !! I finish it in one day, I couldn't do anything before I finish it. Every ep. was so excited and as soon I was finish with it, I wanted to watch it again.

Is going fine. I'm studing nurse and beside that sometimes I work as social and healthcare assistants with the elderly, so isn't something I can work from home. But in Denmark there still cases but not bad as before.

what about you? how is it going in your life ? I prray for you and your family safety. Please take care of yourself when you are outdoors.

hah, well i can't blame you for seeing SnS through, it's not like i haven't done the same myself - at some point you get far along enough in an anime, thinking it's gonna get better but it never really does. yet you just have to see how it ends. the final season is airing now i think. all i can say is manga readers are awaiting the coming storm, lol.

I hope you enjoy Great Pretender and the others. The final eps of Pretender drop on JP Netflix in late September. I'm so excited for them. And i don't get excited about too much these days.

YYH went through scheduling and editing hell on CN. At first it was on Toonami, then it moved to Adult Swim.. or maybe it was the other way around. But it was censored a lot and I don't even think they broadcast the entire series. I revisited it a few years ago and watched it front to back over the course of a few weeks and forgot how big of a role the friendships play in it. I wish it could somehow be re-introduced to younger audiences, especially considering the popularity of Togashi's other series Hunter X Hunter, which definitely has some parallels. Could say the same for Utena, really - it's had a huge impact on western series like Steven Universe and I think that's really cool.

I always felt like Terran was the hardest race to play, I would do an all-in cheese if i was playing Terran on ladder when they added separate MMR so i wouldn't have to play a macro game, lol. Protoss is just boring to me. I've always played swarm/spam races in RTS so Zerg was the obvious choice. I'm guessing you probably enjoyed the pro scene as well. I just started watching GSL again, it's comforting it's still going on, even if the player and fanbase is a lot smaller than the glory days. There's just something about watching the pros play and squeeze all the potential out of how exciting and strategic SC2 really is.

Thanks for checking out my art, i'm glad you like it! I recently got to work on an actual anime so that was exciting. It's called "Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle", not really what i'd usually watch but I can't complain cuz everything Doga Kobo does is super cute. I use a Wacom Intuos Pro, but it's a fairly old model. I was never a fan of screen tablets because I don't like my hand getting in the way and I would always get way too close to the screen, but that's just me. If you're looking to get back into digital drawing, the screenless ones are a great way to start if you're not looking to spend a ton of money on something you're not sure if you want or not. It takes some getting used to, but after a few weeks you start to get over that disconnect of not looking at your hand while drawing.

My inspirations are basically the list of people i'm following on twitter, lol. The artists I look up to, that inspire me to constantly improve and challenge myself. Especially animators - namely Takafumi Hori, Kazuhiro Miwa, Shinsaku Kozuma, Yoh Yoshinari, Hiroyuki Imaishi and Sushio.. there's more but you get the point, haha. One of the things i love about anime is that they keep finding ways to push the boundaries of animation, the energy of a good action scene gets your blood pumping like nothing else out there. It always reminds me of the first time I discovered anime as a kid and realized there was something truly special about it.

Ay lmao! Yeah don't worry, I ended up watching all of the seasons too HAHA. I'm terrible. but honestly i think the story picks up a lot better in the later seasons (although a lot of the problems with S1 are still present in the later seasons).

any anime with good storytelling and dynamic characters:
- shiki (dark, slow buildup)
- from the new world (dark, psychological, drama, strong thematic depth, character building)
- monster (long show, slow buildup, slow burn)
- 3-gatsu no Lion (slice-of-life approach with strong characters. closest thing to a sports anime but not being a sport anime lol)
- ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka (strong storytelling with twists and turns)
- Barakamon (slice of life with heavy emphasis on relationship building)
- Usagi Drop (same as above)

good romantic anime that isn't complete garbage with melodrama:
- tsuki ga kirei (strong relationship building. side characters could've been flushed out a little better but the writing overall is solid.)
- Hourou Musuko (coming of age show that i feel like a lot of people overlook. youngling discovers their true identity. has LBTQIA+ themes.)
- White Album 2 (simple romantic show, writing is straight to the point. not too much beating around the bush.)
- Bloom into You (one of my personal guilty favorites. light yuri, but some of the best relationship building i've seen in a romance show.)

Hopefully that should be enough to get you started :)

I should. I've been watching anime regularly since I was a teenager, reviewing it since my early twenties and I'm in my mid thirties now. If I hadn't picked up some knowledge through the experience, it would be pretty sad. I think melodrama appeals to the same types of people who really like soap operas. There's just a type of person that those over-acted works that make a big deal out of every minor thing appeals to. I'm just not one of them.
I've seen quite a few anime with good story telling and/or dynamic characters. For some that are a bit more cerebral, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone complex, Psycho Pass, the film Harmony (not to be confused with Harmonie which isn't as good), Gankutsuou (which is a sci-i adaptation of the Count of Monte Cristo), Wolf's Rain, Glass no Hana to Kowasu Sekai, Haibane Renmei, Millennium Actress, Monster, Adolescence of Utena. Those are some I'd suggest. I know I mentioned some of them before.

Ay, sorry for the slow reply! I was actually quite surprised quite a few people agreed with me, I thought I was going to get so much backlash for that since the show was surging in popularity back in the day LMAO.

Hooray, glad you found the list helpful. I usually try updating the list every now and then as a way to give people recs. And definitely! I can point you in the right direction, but it would definitely be helpful to know what you're craving. Any specific genre? or common themes?
rtil Aug 20, 2020 9:56 PM
also wow, you were a masters Terran in SC2. I don't play it much anymore, but for a good 6 years I was a ladder addict. Never made it past Diamond I as a Zerg, though.
rtil Aug 20, 2020 9:42 PM
oh, and Kuwabara is on my favorite character list because of his convictions, loyalty, and big heart. plus, he was hilarious. him not being in the final arc made me realize how important he is to the dynamic of main characters in YYH. i was hoping for a little more closure to his story, but i'm just glad he exists, haha.
rtil Aug 20, 2020 9:37 PM
seems wise to dump SnS early because as it turned out everyone hated the ending. the fandom had a meltdown over how bad and stunted it was. back when i wrote that, though, the series was still ongoing.

right now i'm really liking Great Pretender for its characters, but it's only halfway through. some others with great emphasis on character (besides Rakugo Shinju) for me are Mob Psycho 100, Ping Pong the Animation, Uchouten Kazoku and Golden Kamuy.
Ms_Phantomhive Jul 24, 2020 11:33 AM
ohh im sorry to hear that, hope next year you can celebrate your b-day in Japan <3
Somehow I can understand that, since there so many cases at USA, hope soon everyting is over.
Well I studied to my exsam and now work at my part time job, and have time to watch anime/ read manga.
I didn't watch K-On, but watch something similar to it. By the way I had watched Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru and it was so goooooood, I really enjoy my time, and every ep. I want hurry to see it finish and go to the new ep. It is exciting anime, thank you for recommendations <3

ohh lucky, I think our Netflix doesn't have many anime, but I use other site.
ktulu007 Jul 22, 2020 1:49 AM
I am a bit too old for High school melodrama, now that you mention it. I mean, I was born in the 80s.

As for some of my favourite anime, I really like El Cazador de la Bruja. It has some drama drama but it's not melodramatic with it. Same with anime like Chrno Crusade, Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, Revolutionary girl Utena and Ghost in the Shell. I really like the zany comedy in Galaxy Angel. I think the only real weakness to it is the occasional episode that tries to be serious out of nowhere. I also really like the light-hearted comedy in stuff like Flying Witch or Yuru Camp.

I also have a great fondness for fun, optimistic, light-hearted magical girl series like Doki doki Precure, Futari wa Precure, Sailor Moon and Nanoha. Or for slightly darker magical girl series that deconstruct the genre norms in an interesting way like Madoka.

I've also seen some really good anime horror like Perfect Blue, Shiki, Mononoke and Another.

I also like a lot of Ghibli films. Especially Nausicaa & Mononoke Hime. And there's this more obscure sci-fi film I really loved called Glass no Hana to Kowasu Sekai.

I wouldn't recommend watching comedic anime, Ghibli films or magical girl stuff in English even if you usually like the dubs. For some reason English dubbing companies have a history of looking at comedic and magical girl stuff and saying "okay. We don't need to make an effort." And with Ghibli films they ruin the atmosphere by putting in mindless chatter during every slow nature scene.

To be honest, there are so many anime I've really liked that I feel I could give you better recommendations if I knew what media genres you really liked.
ktulu007 Jul 16, 2020 4:30 PM
I'm glad you enjoyed the review.

I can understand your troubles. The melodrama is severe enough that it does make it difficult to watch unless someone really loves Melodrama.

Happy late birthday sweetie <3 I hope you had an amazing day

lol Sorry I haven't been using this site recently. I just finished my finals.

I haven't been watching anime that much recently. I did pick up Touhou though. It is a decent game, though I rage at it a lot. Here are some gameplay:

If you are human:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9B9sc2dxng

If you are NOT human:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-j1Drhy4_Q

If you can't beat the game like me, watch the anime: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w337ij3wtXA&list=PL96GLELTuCrC2P9M7_T44yzr1s8gSVa1a
(It is actually fan made, not from a studio, and all character voicing is performed by one person. Quite impressive if I have to say)

Minecraft is also a good game, though that is not an anime game

I also tried some Popular Japanese Gatcha game. Well, Fate/Grand Order is shit, Azur Lane is actually Chinese but the gameplay is surprisingly decent. You can give it a try but don't spend too much time on it

That's about it. I hope you are doing well during quarantine
