You seemed to have a few doubts on Your Name. If you are still alive, I can explain everything.

I completely forgot about my review on that... thing. After rewatching it I almost made a new review but since they were my thoughts on it at the time I think I'll just let it stay as is.
I didn't even know it was a parody but that doesn't make it any better to me. It's still just as appalling. I fail to see the meme value because I like quality memes, not low tier ones like this.
If i were to make a new review i'd probably give it a rating of 3 simply because of it's uniqueness and astonishing feat of making me nauseous after only half a minute.
I appreciated the comment, oh and thanks for telling me about the fact that it's a parody :D

I messed up on 'experience', hehe.

I only truly understood its standing among the conventional Japanese audience much later, so I will have to deeply apologize for my crudeness and a lack of inexperience to perceive the authenticity it has garnered among the traditional Japanese anime fanatics. I would refrain from editing that out however as I believe at the time I wrote that review, I could look back at it from my current stature as a reviewer and correct my mistakes in the present and in the future.
Thank you for your feedback, it is dearly appreciated.

Have you watched any of the fate series, or other portions of the nasuverse? Kara no Kyoukai? (According to your list, you haven't.) If you enjoy well-built magic systems, it's well worth your time. I'd like to hear your thoughts on them.

Just fyi: I was at the world premier for Kimi no Na wa, and it hit me... hard. I understand that the story may be simple, incomplete, inconsistent, etc. but I rated it based on how I felt right after watching it. At the end of the day, I decided that my usual "rules" for rating didn't matter, it had impacted me that much, deserving a 10. Every anime I rate 10 has clicked with me in this seemingly impossible way, it's a score I've reserved only for the best.

A couple of other mostly unrelated points:
- When watching "true" anime (I'll let you decide for yourself what that means), the author/writer/director is usually trying to drive a single, very specific point. Everything surrounding it is simply a means to that end.
- I would probably also consider myself egalitarian. The only issue I have is that it's impossible to understand the complexities of people's thoughts (hopes, aspirations, motivations, etc.), making this a very dangerous way to structure a legal or such system. (We don't want Psycho-Pass.)
- I'm Christian, which impacts my worldview to a large extent. (I feel like I always have to say "not like that", and point to some "Christian" group in the news.) Of course, my worldview also feeds back into my understanding of being christian.
- It's dangerous to consider/treat other people online as dumber than yourself. It makes it basically impossible to work in a meaningful group or community. (Without the entire group becoming cynical of itself.)
- I'm afraid to say this, but I would consider this the first online argument I've ever "won". No offense meant whatsoever, it just ended with you admitting that you "might be wrong", and no hard feelings whatsoever.
- I enjoy convincing people to re-thing their worldview, as they do so, it lets me peek into part of who they really are.
- This deserves a longer, better thought out reply, but I simply don't have the energy. It's past 2:30am.

I consider myself an expert on magic systems, so don't think I haven't taken these things into account. In Japanese culture, their understanding of how the world works is different. They assume that spirits & magic exist everywhere, and that humans have an imperfect and incomplete view of the world. (For a better explanation of the concept, see this Q&A reply at: http://worldbuilding.stackexchange.com/questions/13364/if-magic-is-real-can-it-be-true-that-rational-scientific-thought-should-exclude/13525#13525 )

For a more scientific explanation: In quantum mechanics, there's a concept of "superposition", where an object can literally be in two places at once. Only when the rest of the universe needs data from this object does it choose where it actually is. The easiest experiment/explanation to understand is probably the double-slit-experiment (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-slit_experiment).

Given all this, the "mind wipe" as well as it's imperfections make more sense. The universe doesn't just jump from one state to the other all at once, it only changes just enough to avoid contradictions. Throughout the series, the split meteor was symbolizing how two versions of the world existed, which were tied to each other, but breaking apart. You just have to give up on the universe being "here" or "there" at all, it's more complicated and beautiful than that. This movie is about all the day-to-day implications of the system that it describes. The very fact that Suki was saved shows us that a pure force of willpower can literally change the world (in this universe).

This is a completely different system than that of Steins;Gate. One is based on science, the other is based on rule-heavy magic. Just because you don't understand a system, magic or otherwise, is no reason to hate it. You just have to analyze the system over and over again, and put together how it works; the very definition of science.

Hello there :3
I honestly vaguely remember the plot, but I do know that I binge-watched the show then watched the movie the next day even though my experience with the show at the time was still not reassuring. The original show was confusing for me my first time watching it, so I guess when I watched the movie it was just to know more of the story and sink deeper into the whole Steins;Gate realm. I haven't rewatched the movie but from what you're telling me, that's a good thing haha.
I watched it before I tried rating anime more critically, and well I didn't think it was disappointing back then. Months later utilizing 1-10 scale, I just stuck any shows/movies that had flaws but good art, humor, interest as 5s.
I did enjoy the romance between the two protagonists the most, and I was reminded of it when I watched Your Name. ... oh, just saw you rated that movie a 6 :)
You're the first to comment on my rating so I appreciate the feedback. I'll try to get around to looking at all of the stuff I rated below a 5. Sometimes I don't balance things so it creates a messy scoring whoops

You should be rating it on the entire thing, don't just forget about some bits that weren't good or were actually bad. Otherwise you're just picking and choosing, and that's dishonest.
