I like serious shows that are sort of dark and gritty. Mostly psychological thrillers. I like shows that stick with me after the fact either due either to powerful themes that give you something to think about or just due to the shocking and disturbing content of the show. I prefer a bit of both. Too much philosophy makes a show into a boring and pretentious mess, too much graphic content is just gore for the sake of gore which is just meaningless. I like a bit of emotional depth and a bit of graphic content. You got to make me care about these characters and build up suspense and tension before you eviscerate them. All that said I'm not super picky. Shows don't need to be 2deep4you or straight up gore to grab my attention, I can enjoy a show with very mild content and no underlying themes so long as it has an intriguing story and feels a bit weighty and isn't so fluffy.
Some of my favorite genres are Psychological Thrillers/Horrors, Sci-Fi (spefically Dystopian), Dark Fantasy, and more broadly you could consider it just Drama or Mystery.
Some genres I typically avoid are Comedy, Slice of Life, Romance, and of course Harem. Also I do enjoy some Action/Adventure, but only if it takes itself seriously and focuses on character growth and an underlaying story. I can't stand Action/Adventure that devolves into episodic villain of the day stuff.
Finally if I do rate a show my ratings work like this:
1-2 = I hated it, 3-4 = I found it boring, 5-6 = it was okay, 7-8 = I liked it, 9-10 = one of my favorites.
Note that I only watch stuff on recommendation and after checking genre tags, so I typically don't watch stuff that I wouldn't like so it's rare for me to give a bad rating.
