For whatever reason, August 2018, I decided I wanted to watch 1,000+ anime. I've been going thru a few a week or less depending on the length. Also gathering a master list of what I've watched and add things to watch thru suggestions recommendations and things that pop up on youtube and such. It's my escape from reality to just relax in a chaotic world.
A few rules I set for myself:
1: There is no particular order to watch from the list
2: Every 50/100 anime watched, I must go back to check and see if a sequel, Ova, movie, etc came out and watch it
3: Once an anime is started, it does not have to be the only anime watched. Breaks are allowed when certain anime are for example, very long, or have huge time skips between episodes that for me, throws me off a little :P
4: Anime are added to the list thru suggestion, youtube, ads, word of mouth etc. it is not randomly picked. I make the choice
5:Once it's on the list, it cannot be removed. I have to watch it eventually.
6:If the anime is not within my scope of interest, I won't add it. I have limits on certain genres
7:Movies and shorts, example 1-11 minutes, will be on the list but not contribute to the 1000 count, unless the longer are a large amount of eps/at least 1 cour.
8:Anime added to the list that are currently airing will be skipped until all current eps have aired. I don't like downtime lol
9: Anime watched will be reviewed after a few watched anime have followed to not influence my position on what the anime rating should be.
10:Upon reaching 1,000 anime, who knows, maybe I'll go for another 1,000 :)
***New Rule after the 500th anime*** I will backtrack at any time. I've noticed with my ever increasing catalog of watched anime, sometimes the backtrack can take a long time. So I want to stay on top of all my anime without a long backlog.
July 28 2024 Finished 600th Anime!!!
At some point in 2025 I will be adding a massive amount of anime to the plan to watch list. This should not conflict with the rules of the Road to 1k anime since I have more than enough already to reach and surpass the 1k mark. There may be some that I will not be able to find or watch and will have to remove from the list.
