But I'm not 100% sure if it was a worser adaptation then Deadman Wonderland
When I disagree with someone, I don't want to enter a meaningless flame war, therefore I state my reasons and deal with it passively. I try not to get myself misunderstood as a person that just bashes on people because I disagree with them.
Have a good day too :)
Now for the dick comment: I just want to errr "hate on" your thoughts on AnoHana so please, feel free to think I'm trying to be a dick (I'm not) when I say, I think your thoughts on it are completely childish (not exactly the word I'm looking for and it comes out a lot dickier than I mean it to). First of all, the death a very close (best friend) at a young age does not heal over time. Time does not heal all, those who think that clearly have not dealt with a serious trauma. If your mother died, would you forget about her death 30 years later? Of course not, you'd pay respects on her death-day and cry every time you think about her. That trauma will make everyday a hell, everyday will be the day of her death until you yourself mentally overcome it. That comment in your review really annoyed me because it's just so... wrong. AnoHana portrayed that perfectly in my opinion (though at times it could be boring I suppose) - moving on in life. How a trauma is something seriously harmful to children whether they know it or not. The theme of living in the past isn't good. Cherish the past within your hearts and use it as a motivation to live in the present, and prepare for the future. Don't you sometimes live in the past? Don't you sometimes struggle in life and need others to overcome?
Characters were all "deadbeat"? Were we watching the same show? Unmarkable hero brooding and looking dull as fuck? He's a traumatized child (He's not remarkable, like any other teenage boy who is sick. He's a normal boy. What makes him unremarkable? Are you remarkable?) and he needs help from his past in order to overcome it himself. The show definitely (with only 11 episodes) depicts each character's reason and obstacle in why they are struggling to move forward in life. They need each other to help overcome it, if you ask me the bonding of the characters and their characterizations already surpasses most anime I've seen (definitely way more than Angel Beats). Menma was annoying? Sure, she is a young child who doesn't know any better (thats basically hating on the characters are being depicted realistically and accordingly to their youth) so yes, she's gonna talk a lot with a childish voice.
I agree that the ending is pretty manipulative, same as Code Geass. Takes a dwindling anime and makes the best out of it, and implants the entire story into the viewers hearts just with the final 10 minutes. But that in itself is [part of the story/writing] and is hard to build-up to, and whether you realized it or not, if you think the ending was in the least bit sad/good (which you stated it was beautiful) then it was good because the story built up the characters and the plot (and the viewer's hearts) into making the ending sad. If you hated all the characters, the music, and was annoyed by the traumatizing past-plot then why would the ending be beautiful at all to you?
As for how much you enjoyed it the show that's not something that I criticize because it all comes down to own opinions in that regard, and what kind of stories you personally enjoy. But I definitely think the beauty of the show and the unification of past friends, reliving your childhood as a teen, overcoming your past, moving forward in life, the true bond between innocent human beings all stood out to me. Definitely the mindset while watching the show will affect the outcome of your feelings of it.
Seriously though man. you didn't like the opening? Or the ending? Secret Base didn't affect your feels at all? Damn man.
