Ah, I see. I've heard many positive things about Trigun so I would like to give it a go sometime. Vash the Stampede is the main man. The creator of MAL is a big fan lol.

Naruto and Shippuden fillers can be a lot of fun and are often a nice comedic change of pace, or an opportunity to find out more about the side characters.

The COVID situation in the UK is pretty bad, unfortunately. I don't know when the end is coming, or if it's even in sight, at the moment. There's no other choice but to suffer in silence.

I thought you might have been. There are a few people I know who are like that! There's lots of anime movies that I'd like to get around to rewatching myself. Now that I'm getting near the end of my HxH series rewatch I'd like to have a second look at the two spin-off movies. I hardly remember anything from the Phantom Rouge movie so it should be an interesting experience.

Yeah, I still have a lot of love and respect for Naruto and Shippuden. It blows a lot of the more recent popular shounen (Hero Academia and Black Clover) out of the water, as far as I'm concerned. There's a surprisingly large amount of people on MAL that haven't seen very much of it either - because they're daunted by the length of it. I was reading about The World is Still Beautiful. There are some quite good user reviews for it on MAL. I'm not really sure of what could be considered retro or not, but I'm pretty much open-minded to anything, except I don't have knowledge of many anime before 2000. Yu Yu Hakusho is one that I want to try from the olden days, though.

Haha, you've watched more than me. I should be the one saying I hope to know the anime world more lol. I have rewatched a lot of things though. I noticed that you don't have any rewatches on your list. Is it that you've just not added the ones you have, or do you prefer not to rewatch?

Nagato is one of my fave Shippuden characters and I remember Saika (one of my fave musical themes) playing a lot in the background during the scenes set in The Village Hidden in The Rain. I really suited the emotional and melancholy vibe.

Thanks for the friend request Floating Earth. Kids on the Slope and Barakamon are two excellent series. I'm not a big jazz aficionado but the music on Kids on the Slope was pretty cool and a refreshing change from the usual. It was a slightly sad ending, how they all went their separate ways, and the main girl ended up with neither of the guys, but at least they got to reunite on that Island at the very end. It was more realistic than a schmaltzy - 'and they all end up happily ever after' cliche, though. It kinda reminded me of some of the adult 'literary' novels I've read.

Did you check out some of my Naruto musical links? Takanashi's work on the soundtrack added so much to the emotional weight, depth, gravitas, and poignancy of the series. It wouldn't be quite the same series without his sublime musical contributions.
