Just a fellow who likes what he likes, but tries to be critical and understand the good, the bad, and the kawaii(Ugly?). Doesn't stop me from raising a score now and then!
That being said, the rating system here is rather weighted, going from slight gradients of success to massive jumps in downgrading quality. I find it truly hard to believe that there are many anime out there that truly deserve anything below a 3 at most. I doubt you will ever find anything below a 4 on my list(not that it's impossible) and this context should be taken into consideration when viewing my scores.
In my strive to be critical and understand the good and bad of the anime I consume I read a lot of negative and moderate reviews, and I have noticed that most of them don't really provide critiques. Most negative reviews decry series for being generic, boring, cliched, the usual list. The problem I have with that is that at this point it is nearly impossible to be original, as nearly everything has already been done somewhere somehow by now. I feel the community is using the wrong standards to judge anime, and so you will likely find me scoring series that you think are garbage and never watched above a 5.
I do so because I try to judge them based on how they use the tools available to them, and will make notes where needed
TL:DR I go more softly on shows because I believe the current standards are too harsh for general anime, and there are two sides to everything, good and bad.
This doesn't degrade the value of a high or low score, simply changes the scale between them to what I feel to be more accurate
