In the blue bar with Anime, Manga Community etc, we have an extra Admin tab which contains some functions we need for modding such as the report queue or user profile data.
We also see some extra functions on user profile such as a user control tab a ban tab and a quick PM tab.
And on the forum we also have some extra functions for locking, moving and removing threads and those kind of things.
Different kind of mods have different functions tho, forum mods are the only ones besides admins who can ban so other mods don't have that function.
Anime and Manga mods have functions to make changes to the Database which forum mods don't have for example.
Usually we nominate a few users who we think are able to handle to function to an admin and the admin will do a few tests to see if the user is able to handle the function.
The users are also asked to make an applications to see if they are really willing to do the function
The admins and all forum mods will evaluate the test scores and applications and based on that we might take the user as a mod or not.
Lately users can also apply for the function.
Despite all this very few people become a forum mod you will have a better chance with other positions.
Being a mod isn't easy it's nice to help people but it can get pretty bad when you warn or ban a user for making a rule violation.
As a mod you have to deal with the good parts and the bad parts of the forum so it can be a pretty ungrateful job.
The be one you need to be responsible you need a lot of patience and you don't need to be to strict.
Being friendly also helps a lot.
Yes. People do that all the time, in fact they do that so often that I'd recommend searching the users on the site to check if someones already done it first lol.
Uhh, I knew one guy on the forums who's name was cumshotz, but now its just Shotz. Its hard to remember them since MAL started giving people the option to change usernames a little while ago and everyone started switching lol.
Never seen anyone get banned for swearing, on profiles or on the forums, I've only ever seen people get banned for offensive usernames.
There is no etiquette lol. It's an anime website. If you're new you can post in the introduction thread, I'll leave a link below. If you see another user who likes similar anime to you then just leave a comment on their profile, message them or send a friend request.
If you encounter someone who is abusive just take a screenshot as proof and send it to a moderator, they'll be banned. I'll leave a link to the moderators list below too.
