Like a few others who have reviewed this show, I went into it knowing next to nothing about it, I didn't even know what genre this Anime was. Needless to say, after watching the first few episodes, the story, characters and mystery instantly drew me in.
The story is centered around the character Kouichi Sakakibara, who moves back to his birthplace, a small town from the big city of Tokyo. It is also the hometown of his mother (deceased). Kouichi lives with his grandparents and aunt during his stay and attends the school Yomi North. From there, things start to get weird and Kouichi instantly
...
begins to notice something isn't right, especially the fact that there is a mysterious girl in the glass in which no one but himself seems to take notice of...
STORY 9/10
The story of Another is a classic horror/mystery with its own unique twist. The story revolves around a well-known legend within the town, in which a student from the ninth grade in class 3-3 died in 1972, along with his family. The class, devastated by the loss of a fellow student, proceeded to act as if he were still alive, which, led to his "ghost" to appear at the end of year class photo. Because of the class's actions, it apparently placed a curse on the class, making them "closer to death". Since that year, the class has been engulfed in a mysterious phenomenon, in which students and their relatives begin to die in mysterious ways. This mystery behind the deaths and what is causing them is what drew me in, and kept me watching. The show paced itself well as well, not giving too much away too early, and the conclusion at the end the series just kept me wanting more.
CHARACTERS 7/10
The relationship between the characters, especially the two protagonists, Kouichi and Misaki Mei, is probably the most interesting in the series. However I often felt myself lose track of who was who aside from those two, especially the characters who died. The would occasionally mention their names again throughout the show, but I would struggle to remember which ones they were. This could be due to my own fault of not fully paying attention, however I felt that the characters were hastily introduced before being killed off, not leaving much time for them to have a lasting impression.
MUSIC 9/10
While I wasn't a fan of the OP when it started, it grew on me, and eventually I did learn to enjoy it. However, the brilliance lies in the show's music. In classic horror/mystery fashion, the music builds up in tense moments, and like often in thrilling moments, keeps you on the edge of your seat. Whoever the composer was for this show, I take my hat off to them.
OVERALL 9/10
Overall, Another is a fantastic thriller/horror/mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat, and keep you wanting more. While 12 episodes was just the right amount of episodes for the story, I can't help but wonder what happens next. Part of me wants another season, but the other part is satisfied with how it ended.
If you're a fan of the mystery/thriller/horror genre, then Another will definitely be one for you to watch.

I was very reluctant to watch this Anime as I had heard good and bad things about it, and when I watched the first episode when it was released I didn't really find it all that interesting. But I'm really glad I went back and stuck to it, because by the end of it, it become one of my most loved anime series of all time.
The Future Diary or Mirai Nikki revolves around a young boy named Yukiteru Amano who unwittingly finds himself thrown into a "Diary Game", in which all the contestants are given special diaries which can predict future events in their
...
own unique way both with advantages and disadvantages. During the Diary Game he meets a seemingly friendly girl named Yuno Gasai, who, in reality, is secretly obsessed with Yukiteru to the point where her personality resembles that of a yandere character (yandere is the term for someone who is shown to be naturally kind and friendly to someone they really care about to the point where their romantic attraction becomes increasingly destructive and they will use any means, usually violent, to ensure that they stay with their romantic interest forever). As Yuno and Yukiteru progress through the Diary Game, they meet the other contestants that either intend to kill them or attempt to join forces with them as allies. Through these interactions, Yukiteru begins to questions the motives of those around him, and uncovers the truth about who Yuno Gasai truly is. By the end of the series, Yukiteru becomes a very changed person who is far from who he was at the beginning. The ending has a big twist which I won't spoil here, but it was a twist that I definitely did not see coming.
STORY 10/10
The story of Mirai Nikki at its base level is one between Yuno and Yukiteru and their twisted love story. It was very interesting to see how the two characters interact. The Diary Game storyline also shines, but is sort of secondary to the main characters' relationship. The twists and turns the story brings are truly award-worthy, with the ending being the ultimate bringing the ultimate twist that no one saw coming.
CHARACTERS 10/10
The chemistry between the two main characters is great, despite the two of them having very different personalities to begin with. Yukiteru starts off as a very kind, shy person who does his best to avoid killing people, but also lacks the ability to protect himself properly, whereas Yuno will do anything to protect him, even murder others. Her Yandere tenancies is what bring the whole show together in my own opinion. Her psychotic personality and the identity of who she truly is was a defining moment in the story. The character evolution of the two is intense, and by the end of it you'll see Yukiteru end up as a completely different person.
Other characters in the series have great progression as well. Some of the Diary owners are actually genuinely caring people, like Keigo, a police Captain who helps Yuki and Yuno and forms an alliance with them. Minene Uryu is also a character with great depth and my second favourite character of the show. She is also a Diary owner who starts off as an antagonist to the main characters, but eventually ends up as a protagonist by the end of the series.
All of the characters have an interesting story to tell, and as you watch each episode, you'll begin to wonder and look forward to finding out more about each Diary owner, and the ability of their Future Diary.
MUSIC 8/10
The first OP was probably my favourite of them all, by I didn't really enjoy any of the EDs, but that's just my personal opinion!
OVERALL 9/10
Overall, Mirai Nikki is a great suspense/thriller with plenty of action and no boring bits, leaving you at the edge of your seat after every episode. I was so hooked that I wanted to binge watch the entire series in one go. The ending had me wanting more, because I felt that there wasn't any closure for the main character, however, the OVA rectified that.
If you enjoy action, drama, and suspenseful thrillers involving time travel with fantastic character development and storyline, you'll enjoy Mirai Nikki hands down. It's a show you'll end up loving or hating, depending on what kind of anime you enjoy, but to me, it would definitely be worth a watch.

Very rarely does an anime bring me close to man-tears, but in this case, Anohana wins that award.
Anohana is a brilliant, very moving, very emotional story about a group of young teenagers and how they cope with the loss of one of their own, ten years after the incident occurs. Anyone who has dealt with loss can relate to how powerful and emotionally challenging it can be to move on from that.
Anohana is story about six friends who, at a young age, formed a close bond with one another and formed a group they called the Peace Busters. One day, one of their own
...
passes away in a tragic accident, which eventually drives them apart as they each blame each other for the loss of their friend. The ghost of their friend, Meiko Menma however, appears to one of their group members, the "Leader", Yadomi Jinta, and he is the only one who can see her. Her re-appearance as a ghost brings the group back together ten years later as they make it their mission to fulfill Menma's last wish in the hopes that they will grant her peace so she is able to move on into the afterlife. Throughout the series the group of friends come to learn more about each other, and discover that each and every one of them are struggling to deal with the past, and all of them are having trouble letting it go.
STORY 10/10
Although the series is short, comprising of 11 episodes, it is the perfect length for the show, not too drawn out and not too long-winded. The plot is in no way confusing to the viewer, and it allows you to connect with each character on a very emotional level, understanding how each and every one of them feels.
MUSIC 8/10
I normally don't pay a lot of attention to the music, but this show had a great OP and a good ED.
CHARACTERS 10/10
As the series progresses, you discover how each of the characters grow and evolve, making them very relatable characters. Each of their stories tell something different, my favourite being Naruko Anjo, and her attachment to the main character, Yadomi Jinta. Her love for him reminded me a lot of relationships I've had in my own life, where you fall in love with someone who you know doesn't love you back the same way. Poppo was also one of my favourite characters, his upbeat personality and drive to ensure that all his friends remain friends forever is something that I would strive to do in many situations. Ultimately, all of the characters' connection to Menma is what makes the show intense and full of emotion.
OVERALL 9/10
Overall, Anohana was one of the best drama series I've seen in a long time, it's bound to strike you at the heart and make cry. It's not too long and not too short either making it a great show to enjoy during your free time. If you love shows that hit you in the feels, then you'll really enjoy Anohana.

Although I'm usually not a fan of romantic anime, this one overcame that with it's style and sense of humor, in classic anime form. The show always kept me laughing throughout, that by the end of it I was wanting a second series.
The characters and plot are typically what you'd find in a romantic comedy (the main character, his love interest, the big-breasted friend and the perverted side-kick), and it revolves around a guy named Kazunari Usa who falls in love with a quiet, introverted second-year girl named Kawai Ritsu. He moves into a boarding house only to find out that Kawai Ritsu also
...
lives there, along with 3 others, Mayumi Nishikino, the big-breasted, seductive character who spends 90% of the series drunk or depressed due to everyone around her finding love except her, Sayaka Watanabe, a cute, "innocent" girl who is actually incredibly manipulative of guys and has some sort of perverted relationship with Mayumi. Then we also have Shirosaki, a perverted man in his late twenties or early thirties who seems to love anything to do with S&M.
This combination of characters bring a whole lot of laughter to the series which I enjoyed greatly. The style of anime is great, lively and very well drawn, along with the setting. For anyone looking for an anime to simply pass the time, or enjoy a good laugh, then you will enjoy this series. Personally, I hope a second series will be released, but I may be hoping for a little too much. Either way, this is a must-see for any romantic comedy fans!
