My AOTS, starting from 2016. It's hard to find time to be a seasonal watcher nowadays, though. I tend to not keep up with shows that I have read the source material for.
I plan on separating shows that I watched weekly from shows that I binged after the season was over, as it's difficult to compare them.
I've become less hesitant with giving things a rating below a 7 as I grow older, so older anime on my list may trend to a more positive score by a deviation of 1 or 2 (or even 3 or 4, when it comes to generic action anime based around shounen, school, or isekai) in comparison to more recent anime that I have rated.
Basically, older anime on my list may be overrated as a result of past leniency, but I'm too lazy to re-rate everything on my list for the sake of consistency.
Here's my new rating system, as of Summer 2019--anything before that should be taken with a grain of salt, unless it's rated a 9 or 10:
10 - Simply a masterpiece. Great story and characters. Kept me watching the whole time throughout all the episodes, and had little to no plot holes. Usually had a unique plot. Would recommend.
9 - Noteworthy. Usually one of my favorite anime. Has a good story with negligible (or easily suspendible) plot holes, and was able to keep my attention span. Usually has scenes that stand out and induce me to re-watch it for the sake of re-experiencing the moment. Memorable enough to be remembered in the current era's saturation of mass-produced, forgettable-after-a-season-or-so anime. Would recommend.
8 - Great. Usually has a decent plot and good characters. The plot is fluent and interesting/unique enough to keep me entertained throughout the whole run of the anime without feeling a lull of boredom. Doesn't have any outstanding flaws that consistently/abruptly ruin my experience of the anime. Generally recommendable.
7 - Good. I was entertained by the anime, but there were clear flaws that impeded its enjoyability and production value. Otherwise, it's a good anime that couldn't fully maintain a sense of anticipation throughout its entirety, probably due to it being a well-made show that felt average as a result of not thoroughly appealing to me. Somewhat recommendable.
6 - "OK". It's honestly probably an objectively flawed anime that I have a guilty pleasure in. It's notable enough that I don't want to portray it as average, but at the same time it clearly isn't good when compared to the standards of other anime. Otherwise, it's the inverse: a well done anime that I personally had little interest in, yet still watched. Recommendable on a case by case basis, depending on what you're looking for.
5 - Average. It might be not so horrible, boring, or full of badly used cliches that I can't watch it, but at the same time, there's nothing outstanding enough to make me have an incentive to watch it. Recommendable on a case by case basis, depending on what you're looking for.
4 - Mediocre. Either has really cliche characters and plot to the point that I get annoyed and bored, had lots of plot holes that make me confused, or simply ended up not following up on the plot or having no real general plot direction. Watchable, but probably didn't maintain or even garner my interest. Recommendable on a case by case basis.
3 - Barely watchable. It's like a 4 rating, but more overbearing when it comes to its unpleasant factors. If a show's humor relies on overdone caricatures that I myself no longer feel humored by, then into the 3 section it goes. It might be watchable, but at that point I'm just watching it for the sake of finishing it. Recommendable on a case by case basis--what I might not like might not be a problem for others, after all.
2 and below - Bad. Bad plot. Bad characters. Too much fanservice instead of focusing on the central purpose of the anime. Plot gets ignored or doesn't exist and is chaotic. Production values are terrible, resulting in a visually incoherent mess that lacks effort and enjoyability.
