There were 4 or 5 10's on my list which I knocked down as well, but other than that I haven't moderated any of my scores. Others tend to focus on what anime you've rated 10 in assessing your competency in critiquing anime, and I realized that a lot of the shows that I'd given away 10's to were in no way deserving.

Each and every one of those recommendations you sent look absolutely stunning! I've heard of Ai Yori Aoshi among them, but never seriously looked into it. The premise and structure of Touka Gettan sounds like exactly what I've been looking for in terms of nonstandard romance, and especially non-chronological storytelling. Really excited about that one.

Well, just off-the-cuff based on your favorites and such here's what I can come up with:

For that noir kind of action a la Phantom and DTB, check out Speed Grapher, Mnemosyne, and Dogs: Bullets and Carnage. Definitely check out Muv Luv Alternative, and Gunslinger Girl (both seasons; don't be detracted by people who resent the visual change).

All of the animation which I have seen of the Tales series is excellent, and you should start either with Tales of the Abyss or Tales of Symphonia if the idea piques your interest. The Symphonia animation (in a series of OVAs, 12eps total) was done by ufotable; it's absolutely stunning.

If you're on the fence about Gundam, good introductions into the universe come in the form of some of the shorter OVAs, but also Wing and Victory. 08th MS Team is what I like to refer to as "the Vietnam of Gundam" and I would argue it is easily the highest quality entry to the current repertoire of Gundam animations, next to Char's Counterattack and Z or ZZ. The setting and feeling is similar to Macross Zero. Personally, I enjoyed War in the Pocket more than 0083 Stardust Memory, but those are both short and sweet introductions as well. For the longest time I was only aware of the mecha genre by periphery, but after playing and thoroughly beating the Dynasty Warriors Gundam titles I came to know many of the characters well. That for me was the best introduction into Gundam I could possibly have asked for.

The re-release of Uchuu Senkan Yamato (2199) is so downright amazing that I decided to save it for a time in the future devoid of all hope when my PTW is depleted and there is no longer anything worthwhile or worth grimacing through. Realistically, I'll probably complete it this year. Every episode is feature-length film quality, and I'm very much not used to it. I felt the same way watching 08th MS Team.

There is a wealth of excellent material in your PTW; here are some honourable mentions:
-Canaan (and some of the Type Moon animations you've missed such as Carnival Phantasm are excellent, no matter the genre)
-H2O Footprints in the Sand (a personal favorite romance series, rather high quality in writing and also fearlessly innovative for the genre)
-Rainbow (top-tier. timeless favorite in my book)
-Koi Kaze (very important work in the romance genre, and stunningly successful storytelling)
-Aku no Hana (rather controversial; keep your expectations as low as possible and your mind just as open. hit me square in the forehead when I did the same)

We rate along the same criteria essentially, but at times I'll let my impression leaving a series influence a significant fluctuation from the mean. In other words, my ratings don't mean anything. All they do is serve as watermarks (which vary in importance with age) of how I felt in conclusion.

In truth, I'm not intending to drop or put anything on hold. At the time when I had done that, I was watching on some borrowed physical media and was unable to complete a series. Recently I acquired the Onegai Teacher/Twins series and those will promptly be completed after I finish Kimi no Iru Machi (which is a hard-hitting and very recommendable romance series, 9 episodes in).

It's nice to hear from others who have seen Shigofumi; a series often overlooked.
