The same with fanservice the story would not progress and it is more for the plot, and if you say that it is a slice of life of romantic life, it is because you do not have concrete foundations to rescue the other, the manga are short stories, taking it to the anime makes the story feels discontinuous.
What do you mean by this😅 Can you explain it differently. I mean you don't really need fanservice to make a story progress.
Also, it is exactly because the manga are short stories that it is hard to make any plot progression. There is a progress of course, but not anything significant. The problem with slice of life is that it often lacks a big goal or motivation to guide the story. It gets repetitive over time and because there is no end goal nobody really knows when it will end. If you enjoyed it and doesn't find it repetitive that means it is a good slice of life. It is the same as consuming tea or coffee everyday. You don't get bored of it because it is part of your routine, your daily life. Hence, making it slice of life. It can get boring, but only if you watch too much of it. For a weekly series it is perfect. And with the story not related to each other i don't need to worry about certain plot points or reveals that i might miss from the previous episode or anything. I can watch it at my own pace.
There are exceptions such as the kamiya arc. But i can still catch up to it since it only last for about two episodes.
