I can't really tell what you've watched from that last season off of your history. Chuunibyou had a pretty decent ending (I wasn't expecting much to begin with), so I'd finish that. Same with Dog Days' (with its godly cast). I like my anime originals.
For some ongoing last season anime: I really enjoy Magi. I've read all of the current chapter of Magi, but I'm still watching that as well. If you haven't read that, you might want to watch it (I'm biased towards Ishihara Kaori) since its a shounen that is not a shounen. I really like the manga and the anime does a good job too, although the anime is currently in the arc that I find boring (but its very important to the overall story).
Sakurasou is also very good. I have a friend who loves it. It's a "realistic" slice of life with a lot of real world drama, I'd have to say, instead of some slice of life's scenarios. Nanami is the best girl as well.
I think Robotics;Note is getting better soon. Another5pb anime, so its gotta be worth a shot. It was pretty generic slice-of-life for the first half, but then again, Steins;Gate was like that too. Not to this extent though.
Psycho Pass is very Gen-Quality. There was one part about the middle of the series that actually made me feel a little bit disgusted (I normally don't get fazed by anime at all). It's definitely not "kid-friendly" and "cheerful", that's for sure.
This season is kinda dry. The animes I'm excited about (not counting the on-going animes from last season) are Vividred, Mondaiji-tachi, and Haganai NEXT. I see you are watching Vividred already, but take a look at the other Mondaiji-tachi. Also watching Tamako Market, Senran Kagura (f...for Imai Asami okay?), Sasami-san, and Seitokai no Ichizon Lv.2, all without much expectations.
Let me know once you've caught up. Not a very exciting season this time.
Speaking of MMOs I've been playing a game called Continent of the Ninth Seal, or C9 like crazy with my friends. It's been a while since I've played a MMO this hardcore (last time was probably Silkroad Online). You should totally play it if you have the free time, although I think its only has NA and EU servers right now.
But yeah, I am far more interested in this season than the last season. We have Dog Days', Horizon II, even the fairly good Tari Tari. Why do they all come out on Saturday... Nothing to watch in the middle of the week! What else do you plan to watch?
I kinda want to see Minorin do characters other than kuudere. I haven't seen many of her characters apart from the ever popular Yuki Nagato. At least Minorin has Horizon to voice this season (with some actual lines this season!).
PS3 is great fun, I played 100 hours of Tales of Graces f and I still haven't finished the entire story. I like playing the side missions WAY too much. I've barely touched any other game. Now I'm considering spending an extra $20 (the game itself was $60 brand new) just on costumes in the game.
I really don't know what to watch this season. I tried to watch Upotte but the gun jokes don't seem that funny to me. Medaka Box is more boring than I expected, and very generic. Would you recommend anything?
I really like the fact that Nana and Minorin and even Maaya Sakamoto, despite being what I consider the seiyuu/singer trinity, still doing voices for animes (although less than before). They could easily just quit voice acting entirely, and focus just on singing, and do well in the industry thanks to their fanbase. I mean, just look at this list. Nana's at 1st for most sales. She makes more than sphere, the flavor of the year(?), by FAR. Yet she still does voices almost every season (Naruto anime, on top of that). They seem to have a genuine passion on what they do (I think, and hope), unlike a certain big forehead *cough* number 5.
Also, in the Tokyo Encounter, Sugita admits he is a BIG Minorin fan, which I find funny since of all the work they do in Haruhi and even stuff like Horizon. Sugita makes me so jealous of his job, but damn, does he look like he is having fun. I want to be slapped like that too.
Also, I noticed in Accel World's opening, that May'n songs are getting less and less...interesting? I was (and still am) a big fan of May'n, but ever since Macross Frontier, almost none of her recent songs can even compare to it. Maybe it was Yoko Kanno's influence on the songs? Didn't she write most of the songs in Frontier? I mean, Frontier music was amazing.
I was got the english patch right away after it came out, but I never got around to playing it. It's been sitting in my ever-growing backlog, just waiting to be played. I was planning to taste out the anime first. If the anime turns out to be disappointing, I might just drop the anime and turn towards the visual novel instead. I just don't know about getting around to spending that much time on it. I just recently bought a PS3, and I've been playing all my JRPGs on it like Tales of Graces f and Resonance of Fate.
I never heard of Robotics;Note, but I could instantly tell it was a nitro+ game with that semicolon separator. I'll definately keep my eyes peeled for that one when it comes out. I should really get around to finishing the Chaos;HEAd visual novel too.
By the way, have you ever picked up an anime solely based off the seiyuus or singers? One of the major reasons I'll watch an anime now is because of the casting. I can think of a few examples where I picked up an anime that I wouldn't normally watch right away just because of the people involved, like Dog Days and Symphogear (which MAY or MAY NOT have something to do with Nana Mizuki lol). I usually pick up new shows that SHAFT animates as well, without a thought. Of course, I almost always pick up original animes, because its fun to watch people online speculate about the plot and such. What are your preferences when picking an anime?
Who do you think is going to animate Little Busters!? I was guessing P.A. Works since they did Angel Beats. I really doubt it will be KyoAni, they didn't do Angel Beats, and they have other projects to work on. Somehow I'm thinking the Key staff and KyoAni had a disagreement somewhere and Key's staff just left. They released a trailer for Little Busters!, but I think that was just all artwork and had no animation behind it. I kind of hope it isn't P.A. Works, I think other studios could do a better job.
I don't know very much about directors, but it'd be nice to have the Kanon and Clannad staff working on it as well.
Also, I feel kind of guilty of watching the anime, since my friend who played the visual novel (untranslated) said it was the best visual novel he had ever played. And I know, no matter how hard they try, can't make it as good as the visual novel in terms of various routes and in-depth plot and other things. But part of me still hopes for the best.
I just love Symphogear's music too much. I love Nana Mizuki's singing and all, but Minami Takayama (Kanade) singing really surprised me a lot. From someone who voices a little boy every week in Conan, she still has a strong female (singing) voice. Not sure about Aoi Yuuki's singing though :S. Though it helps that I just like a hand-to-hand fighters (swords get repetitive to me). It is indeed Nanoha x Madoka
I actually just noticed you aren't watching Guilty Crown? Any reason why not? I enjoy it a lot more than I thought I would. At first I thought it was a Code Geass rip (same writer and what not), but it certainly developed into something different in the recent episodes. Whether its a "good" different or a "bad" different is up to your opinion, I guess.
I'd also suggest Mirai Nikki from last season, on that topic. If you can handle gory gore and crazy people lol.
How's the new season for you? I found it kinda plain compared to the last season. I did pick up some shows like Symphogear, (new) Nichijou, and Lagrange, but I mostly just excited for Nisemonogatari and Amagami SS+.
How is Pirates, Another, and Ano Natsu de Matteru? Was considering of picking them up, but I thought I'd try to catch up of some backlog and some new games.
Hope you enjoyed your birthday!
This season is really great though, with Persona 4 (which I finally got around to playing), Fate/Zero (so far the best this season, I think), and sequels like Working and Ika Musume. Really excited for those. But I'm also interested in Gundam AGE (seeing how it will turn out), Guilty Crown (looks like Code Geass again), Mirai Nikki (after the OVA), and Boku wa Tomodachi (again, OVA).
Was also thinking about checking out Maji de Watashi and Senjou no Horizon because my friends say its good. And maybe Phi Brain. And maybe Ben-to. Just about every show, to be honest.
What are you excited for? What are you watching in general?
Exorcist is a generic shounen, but thats not to say it isn't good. I enjoy it a lot more than I feel I should. Ano Hana and [C] are great originals animes this season. Though [C] has the shitty animation at times due to the low budget. Good story though. I'm surprised you aren't watching it.
Fate/Zero's PV came out last week. I am so excited for Tuxedo Saber. And all the other Servants. And bad ass Kiritsugu vs Kotomine. Ideal fight. I can't wait for October.
