G'day, Ladies And Gentlemen of MAL
Greetings to Everyone and No-one! My name is Harry and I've been watching anime since 2014 after holding out against it for 6 months against my friends influence. Now I've probably consumed more of it than any two of them put together.
My Favourite Quotes
Even if we forget the faces of our friends, we will never forget the bonds that were carved into our souls. - Otonashi Yuzuru
Yet tell me, my brothers: if a goal for humanity is still lacking, is there not still lacking - humanity itself? - Friedrich Nietzsche
If anyone tells you that such a person speaks ill of you, don't make excuses about what is said of you, but answer: "He does not know my other faults, else he would not have mentioned only these." - From Epictetus' The Enchiridion
I finally read Gintama and, although I broke my promise to watch it, it was still pretty good...

Atm this is my initial thoughts on the series:
Chapter 91-123: 9/10
Chapter 124-138: 6.5/10
Chapter 139: 7.5/10
Now it’s finally over I can try find something with the same level of mystery, development and payoff, I think Houseki no Kuni is the closest thing to those and the development is too good. It’s nothing like how the series started more or less but it’s great, I won’t say too much about it but a literal gem of a series.
Hmm that fair, I think people’s opinions on prime time for anime varies a lot. Past anime had better story for sure, but limited art, now it’s the other way around for modern anime. It’s far-more saturated in harems and Isekai. Maybe I’m just an old man now that’s been sick of High School anime ever since he’s graduated π
Horimiya looks great! I haven’t decided if I wanted to read or watch it first, same goes with JJK. I guess whatever is easier to consume for me. I’ve been trying to catch up on some manga that I’m currently reading for now. I’m juggling quite a few titles that are more Romance heavy too. Anjou-san is pretty neat, kinda similar to Nagatoro but without sadistic nature, that too I haven’t read yet lol. Been loving Tsuiraku JK to Haijin Kyoushi, it’s 40ish chapters behind in English which sucks but at least it’s updating regularly. Shounen no Abyss is neat too, not the most realistic but art is real nice, give me a Doujinshi feel. It’s kinda more tragedy though, my only issue is that it glorifies Suicide a bit heavily. Very nice cover art, might purchase it in Japanese if it actually gets better.. anyways shoot me with any life advice dude I’ll take that in anytime. I don’t know shit for what’s ahead of me π€£
The more i read SnK the more I’m scared about the ending... Ymir is definitely evil and using Eren. Im not sure how Armin and Monke gonna play in the paths. I’m not not sure on Erens fate, i could see him die though so I’ve already started to loose attachment to a lot of the characters. Speaking of, i where Rico is she’s kinda gotten forgotten which was weird for Yams to do.. Ironically I’m starting to like characters i thought were bad a lot more in this final showdown. Watching the anime-onlies suffer from Sasha was quite.. entertaining (fufufufu). Can’t wait for them to experience the rest it’s hilarious π I let my GF borrow my S4 worth of volumes and watching her read Erens head getting shot off then reattached from the parasite was the best experience ever. She was so shocked/confused and just stared at the panels for a good 5 mins in pure disbelief xD. Truely an insane series.
Manga is great! No better feeling than finding a well-written and underground series to be apart of. Double-edged sword tho as u receive sadness knowing it’ll never receive an adaptation, not that its always a good think. I recommend the manga Houseki no Kuni as it takes a similar approach to SnK in a way, a literal gem lol. Really sad that it hasn’t gotten a second season, it really picks up after the anime ending... Maybe if there’s enough noise then it’ll be noticed, just like chainsaw man. Although its pretty much guaranteed every shounen manga becomes and anime haha.
Anime peaked in the 10s for me, its vastly dropping in quality each year, a lot of the seasonal things are either generic isekai/harem, second season to mid shows or badly adapted anime. Idek what I’m going to watch this season, maybe just Beastars 2 and Promised Neverland 2, excluding AoT. Ive already read them all so watching them isn’t a priority as the middle/end of the manga was... ehh. Mid. I’m kinda burnt-out on anime i cant even watch stuff on x2 speed anymore. My only use for Livechat.me nowadays is just to see what things are interesting enough to read instead. As you said: faster and easier to consume, especially when I’m basically full-time now, not really planning on Uni atm—unsure of my future for now :/ i am self-studying Japanese at least so thats a bonus, cant wait to be able to buy cheaper manga π
I noticed we haven’t been watching anime as often anymore π i cant tell if its the massive drop in quality or that i have more in my life atm. I swear its the fate of all otaku to convert from anime to manga when they age, manga is so much better, and less time consuming too. I really like the underground feels from it :)
